Toshizo Hijikata is a legendary warrior tasked with guarding the Mask of Zeguy across time. He operates alongside Gennai Hiraga, piloting the living airship Heavenly Wind, to prevent the mask's power from being seized by the antagonist Himiko. A critical part of his mission involves protecting Miki, a schoolgirl transported from modern Japan who is revealed as the true priestess of Zeguy.

Hijikata engages in relentless battles against Himiko's forces, including cyborg warriors, sand-filled werewolf bikers, and other hybrid antagonists. He executes vital rescues, saving Miki from fatal falls and confronting Himiko directly to stop her from sacrificing Miki's friend Sayaka. His combat relies on traditional swordsmanship within the technologically advanced and magically infused setting.
