Yumi entered Yuuto's household five years before the story's events after her mother's death. During this period, she and Yuuto developed hidden mutual desires for each other. A mysterious videotape containing self-desires first affected her classmate Ruri, then Yumi, and finally Kaori, Yuuto's girlfriend. The videotape depicted these characters in altered states within a Meiji-era setting.
