Tae Yamada, renowned as "The Legendary Tae Yamada" or "Zombie 0", is the seventh member of the zombie idol group Franchouchou. Her story unfolds across the main series, the spin-off manga *Zombie Land Saga Gaiden: The First Zombie*, and related media. As a human, Tae operated her father's Karatsu Burgers stand while secretly leading the "Saga Sagako Busters", a group fighting supernatural Sagako curses plaguing Saga Prefecture. Her parents died in a Sagako incident on her birthday, driving her stern, stoic quest for vengeance. She battled these curses using a shovel, aided by allies like Yuko Hyodo for sealing. After Yuko sacrificed herself, becoming an onion, Tae recruited Yuko's brother, Eikichi Hyodo. Though initially hostile, they developed mutual trust and respect. Their partnership ended when Tae sacrificed herself to seal the powerful Spider Sagako, Magatsuhi, by fusing its soul with her own, resulting in her death. Resurrected as a zombie, Tae exhibits limited consciousness compared to her groupmates, displaying instinct-driven behaviors like biting objects or people—especially fellow member Junko Konno—and indiscriminately consuming large amounts of food. A visible head bandage predating her death may contribute to her speech limitations and impulsivity. Despite her feral state, she understands language, participates in group practices and performances, and gradually develops basic communication through groans, gestures, and mimicry (like copying Sakura Minamoto's counting or rooster sounds). Her physical abilities include abnormal limb rotation and reassembly common to zombies. Throughout the series, Tae shows gradual cognitive development. She demonstrates protective instincts, biting a threatening boar to defend Sakura and Lily, and displays curiosity by imitating dance moves or expressions. In *Revenge*, she undertakes solo errands with Romero the dog and Maria Amabuki, indirectly aiding the group. Though largely nonverbal, she attempts phrases like "one, two" and engages in affectionate interactions, nudging Sakura to repeat dances. Her idol performances feature coordinated choreography, wearing distinctive outfits: initially a purple "Zero"-themed ensemble, later a red jacket with plaid skirt and boots. Her bandages remain visible under makeup. Physically, Tae stands 170 cm tall, weighs 50 kg, and has a curvy figure often hidden by baggy clothing. She has long, dark plum hair with reactive bangs that stiffen during emotional arousal. Her favorite foods are dried squid and mentaiko (pollock roe); she dislikes wasabi and takoyaki. Her color motif is purple.
