Description
Junko Shiragami, designated Kelly in English adaptations, recurs as a human character in Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2001). Her life is defined by relentless misfortune, repeatedly intersecting with Transformer conflicts across diverse locales. Extreme wealth permits constant replacement of possessions, particularly red sports cars inevitably destroyed during these encounters. A recurring pattern involves Side Burn, an Autobot fixated on red automobiles, who pursues her vehicles. She often misinterprets his advances as romantic interest, leading to comedic mishaps like ejections through sunroofs or ditch strandings.

Her misfortune transcends vehicular destruction. She witnesses Transformer battles in settings ranging from city streets, forests, deserts, and ruins to casinos, resorts, boating excursions, and hiking trails. These experiences cause profound distress, prompting therapy and reinforcing her belief in a personal curse. Specific incidents include narrowly avoiding a terrorist bomb hidden in a new car, surviving a volcanic eruption on Montrose Island, evading scalding in overheated hot springs, witnessing Fortress Maximus’ emergence, and enduring the Earth’s core battle against Galvatron.

A pivotal incident occurred when Predacons scanned a truck she drove, carrying rocket fuel. This scan shaped the Decepticon Scourge’s alternate mode and imparted a partial human bio-signature. This signature later enabled Scourge to briefly impersonate a human and seize control of Fortress Maximus.

Within Japanese Generation 1 cartoon continuity, Junko Shiragami exists in the Beast Era narrative as a Tokyo resident in 2000, interacting with time-traveling Transformers from the future.

Extended media appearances include her 2005 participation in the Interplanetary Personnel Exchange Program. As a "race queen" model partnered with the narcissistic Autobot Sunstreaker on an Autobot Race Team, their collaboration featured frequent arguments. Sunstreaker once terrified her by engaging in an unauthorized, dangerous race with a human driver. In 2015, during a Greek vacation, the Mutant Burnout attempted to kidnap her before Super R.E.V intervened. The Animated continuity depicts her as a racing queen reportedly dating Michael Avery, with Detroit Powell Press mentioning potential wedding plans.
