Description
Keita's mother is a central parental figure in the anime "Yōkai Watch ♪ (2021)" and the broader Yōkai Watch franchise. In Western localizations, she is often known as Lily Adams, but in the original Japanese context of the 2021 series, she is referred to simply as Keita no Haha, or Keita's mother. She resides with her family in the town of Sakura New Town, fulfilling the role of the primary homemaker and caregiver for her son, Keita Amano (known as Nate Adams in English versions), and her husband, Mr. Amano.

Physically, she is characterized by her long brown hair, brown eyes, and a pair of glasses that she almost always wears. Her typical casual outfit consists of a pale yellow, long-sleeved shirt with rolled-up cuffs, light gray denim shorts, dark brown tights, and yellow ballet-style flats. A signature accessory is an orange scarf with white polka dots. When performing household chores, she dons an apron, and her attire for exercise includes a purple leotard, yellow leggings, and lavender leg warmers.

Her personality is defined by a notable duality. On one side, she is a devoted and nurturing mother, demonstrating her love through domestic actions such as cooking meals, keeping the house meticulously clean, and baking homemade treats for her son. This gentle side coexists with a formidable strictness. When Keita disobeys her, fails to complete his chores, or neglects his responsibilities, she becomes terrifyingly angry, a side of her nature so potent that it is humorously cataloged in the Yōkai Medallium under the persona of Monster Mom. Keita himself has expressed that he would rather face a powerful Oni Yōkai than endure his mother's wrath. Despite this fearsome discipline, her underlying kindness and devotion remain her core traits.

In the narrative of the anime, Keita's mother serves as a grounding element of Keita's everyday human life. Much of her early screen time in the franchise establishes the ordinary family conflicts that often serve as the catalyst for Keita's Yōkai-related adventures. A key example from the very first episode involves a seemingly mundane argument with her husband over yogurt and housework. This dispute is later revealed to be caused by a mischievous Yōkai named Donyorinne (known as Dismeralda in some localizations), who inspires anger and jealousy. After Keita resolves the Yōkai problem, his parents reconcile, demonstrating how supernatural elements directly impact the human world. Subsequent episodes continue this pattern, with her ordering Keita to clean his room and punishing him when he sneaks out, or assigning him to wait for a package delivery and grounding him when he abandons his post.

Her key relationships define her role. With her son Keita, the relationship is loving but contentious; she frequently scolds him for his failings, but he deeply cares for her, having called her the best mom ever on multiple occasions. Her relationship with her husband is typically portrayed as affectionate and stable. The character Whisper once noted that the couple is so loving that it made a Yōkai of envy jealous, with their only significant arguments arising from the meddling of outside Yōkai influences.

While Keita's mother does not undergo dramatic personal transformation, her character shows development through her unwavering consistency and the changing circumstances of her family. She remains a steadfast anchor, whether dealing with the chaos Yōkai bring into her home or adapting to major life changes. In later installments of the franchise not always directly connected to the 2021 series, such as the Shadowside sub-series set thirty years in the future, she is shown to have aged into a grandmotherly figure. In those narratives, she and her husband face serious supernatural threats, such as being infected by a virus that transforms them into ogre-like beings before being cured.

Regarding notable abilities, Keita's mother does not possess supernatural powers. Her talents are firmly rooted in the domestic sphere; she is an excellent cook and baker, and she maintains her household with efficiency. Her most formidable attribute is her fearsome anger, which is potent enough to be recognized as a legendary phenomenon within the world of the series, capable of intimidating her son more than any monster.
