Description
Alice Zuberg hails from Rulid Village in the Underworld, childhood companions to Kirito and Eugeo. At eleven, seeking to help an injured knight near the Dark Territory border, she stepped onto forbidden soil, breaking the Taboo Index. Integrity Knight Deusolbert Synthesis Seven captured her, taking her to the Central Cathedral. After two years of study, Supreme Priest Quinella performed the "Synthesis Ritual," forcibly transforming her into Integrity Knight Alice Synthesis Thirty and suppressing her memories.

As Alice Synthesis Thirty, the 30th Integrity Knight (originally the 50th in the web novel) and third-highest in the Axiom Church hierarchy, she wielded the Fragrant Olive Sword, capable of disassembling into petal-like projectiles. She first reappeared arresting Kirito and Eugeo for Taboo Index violations, failing to recognize them. A confrontation erupted in the Central Cathedral's Cloudtop Garden, where she battled them beneath an osmanthus tree, underscored by her theme "She Was Sitting Under The Osmanthus Tree."

Her suppressed memories stirred during a critical encounter with Kirito while scaling the cathedral's exterior. After Kirito revealed her past and her sister Selka, Alice broke Quinella's mental seal through sheer will, permanently losing her right eye. This restored her identity as Alice Zuberg, aligning her with Kirito and Eugeo against Quinella. Following Quinella's defeat and Eugeo's death, Kirito entered a coma. Alice retreated with him to Rulid Village for protection. A subsequent goblin attack reignited her resolve to defend the Human Empire, prompting her to join the Human Guardian Army at the Great Eastern Gate.

During the Underworld war, Alice became a military leader after Integrity Knight Commander Bercouli's death. She defended the Human Empire against the Dark Territory invasion and real-world attackers, including U.S. PMC operative Gabriel Miller using the Dark God Vecta super-account, who sought her fluctlight. Her combat prowess and strategic acumen proved instrumental. Post-conflict, Project Alicization transferred her fluctlight into an artificial, near-identical android body in the real world; the project's acronym (Artificial Labile Intelligence Cybernated Existence) coincidentally spelled her name. In a public address, she advocated for human-artificial fluctlight coexistence, silencing a critic with a rhetorical question about human subjugation.

Young Alice Zuberg showed compassion, adventurousness, and a tendency to exploit rule loopholes. As an Integrity Knight, she exhibited pride, stoicism, and fierce protectiveness, rarely accepting help. Post-memory restoration, she integrated these traits with her original empathy, though retaining a reluctance to admit vulnerability. Her relationship with Kirito shifted from hostility to deep trust, while her affection for Eugeo remained unresolved. In later arcs like Unital Ring, she adapts to new virtual worlds, her abilities reset by system merges.
