Description
Alice Zuberg grows up in Rulid Village as the daughter of chief Gasupht Zuberg and sister to Selka Zuberg. Her childhood is marked by a close friendship with Eugeo and Kirito; she often brings them lunch while they chop the Gigas Cedar. Combining determination and adventurousness, she sometimes displays mischievousness by exploiting Taboo Index loopholes. This trait leads her to convince Eugeo and Kirito to accompany her to the Mountain Range at the Edge. There, she accidentally touches soil from the Dark Territory, leading to her apprehension by Integrity Knight Deusolbert Synthesis Seven. He transports her to the Central Cathedral for alleged interrogation and execution.

At the cathedral, Administrator Quinella removes Alice's Core Protection over three days and forces her through the "Synthesis Ritual." This suppresses her childhood memories and transforms her into Integrity Knight Alice Synthesis Thirty, the 30th knight created (revised from the 50th knight designation in the web novel). As an Integrity Knight, she loyally serves Quinella, wielding enhanced physical capabilities, proficiency in Sacred Arts, and mastery of the Fragrant Olive Sword – a weapon that disassembles into petal-like projectiles and reassembles at will. Her armor features gold plate, a blue cape, pauldrons, gauntlets, greaves, and a skirt, accessorized with her signature white headband. Ranked third among the knights, she demonstrates exceptional combat prowess.

Six years after her synthesis, Alice encounters Kirito and Eugeo at the Sword Mastery Academy after they violate the Taboo Index. Her suppressed memories prevent recognition, and she arrests them. Later, on the Central Cathedral's 80th floor beneath an osmanthus tree, she battles them. During the fight, Kirito reveals her past and family, specifically mentioning Selka. This triggers emotional turmoil and fragmented memories, enabling Alice to overcome the Seal of the Right Eye through sheer willpower, though it temporarily costs her right eye. Convinced of Quinella's deception, she allies with Kirito and Eugeo to overthrow the Administrator.

Following Quinella's defeat and Eugeo's death, Alice protects the comatose Kirito. She initially retreats to Rulid Village but rediscovers her purpose during a goblin attack, realizing her duty to defend the Human Empire. She joins the Human Guardian Army at the Great Eastern Gate, participating in the war against the Dark Territory's invasion, where her strategic acumen and combat skills prove vital. After the war, Alice's fluctlight transfers to a Lightcube and eventually into an artificial humanoid body in the real world. This android replicates her Underworld appearance with silicone skin and golden hair, initially dressed in an SAO survivor school uniform. She continues adapting to the real world while maintaining her protective instincts and occasionally displaying a hearty appetite.

Her name connects to Rath's project "Artificial Labile Intelligence Cybernated Existence" (A.L.I.C.E.), and her birthdate (April 9) was intentionally set one day before Eugeo's to assess Kirito's influence on Underworld residents. In popularity polls, Alice Synthesis Thirty ranked sixth while Alice Zuberg ranked thirtieth. Her character theme is "She Was Sitting Under The Osmanthus Tree."
