Description
Eugeo originated from Rulid Village, a remote Human Empire settlement, sharing his childhood with Kirito and Alice Zuberg. His family life was marked by emotional neglect, particularly from a father who favored Eugeo's older brothers and expressed disappointment when Eugeo inherited the seven-generation Sacred Task of felling the Gigas Cedar—a duty diminishing the family's farm labor. This role defined his early years, contributing to social isolation, especially after Alice's arrest, as villagers shunned him for his association with her violation of the Taboo Index.
Physically, Eugeo sported a slender frame, cream-colored skin, flaxen hair, and green eyes. In Rulid, he dressed in a hand-sewn light blue V-neck tunic fastened by a light brown cord and simple trousers. Upon enrolling at the Sword Mastery Academy, he adopted the standard grey uniform, later customizing it to blue and grey as an Elite Disciple. After his transformation into an Integrity Knight, he temporarily wore bluish-silver armor with a cape.
His personality blended inherent kindness with ingrained deference to authority. He consistently prioritized others, sharing food with Kirito upon their reunion and minimizing workloads for his valet, Tiese Schtrinen. Initially, however, he lacked the resolve to challenge the Axiom Church's laws, even after Alice's abduction, using his Sacred Task as an excuse to avoid pursuing her rescue. This changed when Kirito returned to Underworld six years later (Underworld time), reigniting Eugeo's determination to become an Integrity Knight and retrieve Alice.
A pivotal development occurred when he witnessed nobles Raios Antinous and Humbert Zizek attempting to sexually assault Tiese and Ronye Arabel. Overcoming the Seal of the Right Eye—a psychological barrier enforcing Taboo Index compliance—Eugeo severed Humbert's arm to protect them. This defiance, coupled with Kirito's intervention against Raios, branded them criminals, leading to their arrest by Integrity Knight Alice Synthesis Thirty, who no longer recognized them.
During their escape and ascent of Central Cathedral, Eugeo learned Underworld's truth from the entity Cardinal. In the final confrontation against Supreme Priest Quinella, he merged with Alice's memory fragment and his Blue Rose Sword to destroy her Sword Golem. Though successful, he sustained fatal injuries attacking Quinella directly afterward. His last act transferred his remaining life to Kirito, empowering Kirito's final strike against Quinella and resulting in Eugeo's death.
Eugeo's legacy persisted beyond physical demise. Fragments of his Fluctlight consciousness remained embedded within Kirito's psyche, later surfacing during Kirito's comatose state to prevent self-destruction and guide him back to awareness. Similarly, his spiritual presence reassured Tiese through the Blue Rose Sword and inspired Integrity Knight Eldrie Synthesis Thirty-One during a critical battle, reinforcing themes of selfless love and protection.
