Description
Mirei Minami is a middle school student at Paprika Private Academy and a central figure in the PriPara idol world. In her everyday life, she serves as the strict head of the school’s disciplinary committee, known for her sharp intelligence, meticulous attention to rules, and a perfectionist attitude that often makes her seem unapproachable. She has brown hair tied in a high ponytail, brown eyes, and wears glasses. Her catchphrases in this persona are “Keisandouri” (just as calculated) and “Keisangai” (miscalculated), reflecting her analytical mindset.

When she enters PriPara, Mirei undergoes a dramatic transformation into a pop-type idol with a bright, bubbly, and energetic personality. In this form, she has lemon-yellow hair styled into twin buns that resemble cat ears, blue eyes, and she speaks with a playful tone, ending her sentences with “-pri.” Her idol catchphrase is “Pop, Step, Get You!” She uses the brand Candy Alamode for her costumes.

Mirei’s motivation is rooted in a genuine love for everything pop and a desire to express a side of herself she keeps hidden in the real world. She is the first to scout Laala Manaka after discovering her in PriPara, and the two become partners, eventually forming the unit SoLaMi♡SMILE alongside Sophie Hojo. Within this unit, Mirei acts as the primary strategist, using her analytical skills to plan performances and solve problems. She also serves as a mentor figure to Laala, guiding her through the early challenges of being an idol.

Key relationships include her deep bond with Laala, her competitive dynamic with the equally intellectual Shion Todo of the rival unit Dressing Pafé, and her admiration for the senior idol Cosmo Hojo. Mirei’s development arc centers on reconciling the gap between her strict, calculating real-world persona and the carefree idol persona she adopts in PriPara. She initially struggles with the pressure of maintaining a perfect image, but over time learns to accept her own vulnerabilities and recognizes that her hard work and dedication are just as valuable as natural talent.

Notable abilities include her exceptional puzzle-solving and strategic thinking, which make her a natural leader in both academic and idol settings. She is also a capable singer and dancer, able to adapt to the pop-style performances that define her idol career. Throughout the series, she evolves from a rigid enforcer of rules into a more emotionally open and supportive teammate, finding balance between her two identities.
