Description
Mirei Minami is a 14-year-old human female and an 8th-grade student at Paprika Private Academy, where she presides as head of the disciplinary committee. Her serious, analytical, and rule-abiding nature is captured in her catchphrases: “Keisandouri” (Just as calculated) and “Keisangai” (Miscalculated), reflecting her methodical and puzzle-proficient mind.
Her appearance shifts between her everyday life and her idol persona. As a student, she wears light brown hair in a high ponytail with straight bangs, caramel brown eyes, and black glasses. Transformed into her idol self in the PriPara world, her hair turns lemon yellow and is styled into two pointed buns with the rest falling in waves to her shoulders; her eyes become blue, and she no longer wears glasses. She favors the pop idol style, represented by the Candy Alamode brand, which features confectionery-inspired outfits. Her idol catchphrase is “Pop, Step, Get You!” and she often appends “-pri” to the end of her sentences.
Her family consists of her mother, an attorney who wishes for her to become an Idol Attorney, and her father, a prosecutor who hopes she becomes an Idol Prosecutor.
In the PriPara world, she is part of the unit SoLaMi♡SMILE alongside Laala Manaka and Sophy Hojo, under the management of a bear-like character named Kuma. She advanced from the Student Class to the Debut Class early in her career, having first attended PriPara in the 6th grade.
During the events of the film *PriPara: Everyone's Longing! Let's Go PriParis!*, she is one of the idols who receives an SOS from Falulu warning that PriPara is losing its Sparkle power and faces disappearance. Alongside Laala and Sophy, she is transported to Osaka, Japan. There, they discover a local PriPara in an aquarium, perform for local idols to gather Sparkle power (or “likes”), and press on toward Pripari to save the sacred idol ground.
Her relationships form a key part of her story. She shares a strong partnership with Laala Manaka and understands Sophy Hojo’s Fancy Mode. She holds an academic rivalry with Sion Tōdō, to whom she once issued a warning ticket for a rules violation, and later competed against. A rivalry with Mimiko Jigoku is noted in *Idol Time PriPara*. She also admires the idol Cosmo.
Notable details include her birthday on October 1st, making her a Libra. Her favorite flowers are poppies, and she enjoys melon bread. She has won the National Exemplary Head Disciplinarian Contest three times. Her first name derives from the third note of the Solfège scale. She was the first pop-type idol to perform a Gold Fairy and to perform at Paparajuku’s PriPara.
Following the main series, she transfers to a place called Aquaprium during *Idol Time PriPara*.
