Description
Midge, a chironomid insect, awakens from dormancy aboard a distant space station far from Earth. Originally brought there with other insects for unspecified human experiments, he discovers the station abandoned by humans without explanation, leaving its inhabitants with dwindling resources and no clear path home.

Upon awakening, Midge emerges as proactive and determined. He encourages fellow insects Doc, a cricket, and Marbo, a trapdoor spider, to escape their confined area. His immediate goal is locating the station's farm module, believing it offers access to other survivors and essential food supplies. This initiative cements his role as the group's de facto leader and motivator.

Midge exhibits high energy, unwavering optimism, and a powerful drive to reach Earth, maintaining this focus throughout the journey. As the group travels across different planets facing numerous obstacles, they befriend additional companions: Ellen, an insect with wings, and Master Yang. Midge's interactions often include lighthearted elements, like humorously addressing Master Yang as "old man."

Their journey progressively reveals deeper layers behind the initial abandonment, forcing Midge and his companions to confront increasingly complex challenges. Their quest to return home simultaneously becomes an investigation into the humans' sudden departure and the reasons behind the terminated experiments. Midge's resolve and leadership remain central to navigating these hurdles and maintaining group cohesion during their interstellar odyssey.
