Satoshi journeys with companions to observe the Millennium Comet’s arrival, immersing himself in the festival festivities. He notes the swift overnight assembly of festival grounds and amusement park displays, demonstrating keen interest. Volunteering alongside Max for Butler’s magic performance, Satoshi enters a box intended for an escape trick involving Dusclops' Hyper Beam, though a concealed transport mechanism secretly relocates them offstage. When Team Rocket disrupts the show attempting to steal Pikachu, Satoshi readies to confront them directly but is halted by Butler, who manages the interruption through coordinated Pokémon efforts. Satoshi and Max earn audience applause, perceived as part of the act. After the performance, Satoshi discovers Jirachi with his friends, witnessing Max obtain the crystal housing the Mythical Pokémon. He observes Jirachi awaken under the comet’s glow and its initial wish-granting attempt, which teleports snacks and creates pandemonium. Satoshi aids in resolving the wish’s chaotic aftermath. Upon learning Butler intends to exploit Jirachi’s power to resurrect Groudon, Satoshi assists in fleeing with Jirachi toward its sanctuary in Forina. After Butler pursues and seizes Jirachi again, Satoshi confronts the magician to halt the experiment. Traveling to Forina, Satoshi counsels Max during the boy’s distress over Jirachi’s inevitable departure. He recounts his separation from past companion Misty, stressing that profound bonds persist despite distance, reassuring Max about his connection with Jirachi. In the climax, Satoshi combats the false Groudon spawned by Butler’s corrupted experiment. This entity saps life energy from Forina, endangering the land and absorbing Satoshi’s allies. Satoshi orchestrates efforts with Max, Butler, and Jirachi to oppose the threat. He participates in diverting the creature, enabling Jirachi to reclaim the misused energy and ultimately vanquish the false Groudon using Doom Desire.
