Tama is an energetic cat driven by a strong desire for new adventures. He lives with his owner, Takeshi Okamoto. Pochi, a timid yet tenderhearted dog, is Tama's best friend. Tama secretly harbors romantic feelings for Momo, a sweet and ladylike cat owned by Emi Hanasaki. When Momo disappears, Tama leaps into action, leading a search across cities, mountains, and rivers. He enlists his close companions Pochi and Tora—a troublemaking cat prone to encouraging daredevil stunts—alongside other allies. These include Beh, a knowledgeable black cat familiar with shortcuts and hidden locations; Kuro, a hyperactive and athletic dog; Gon, a laid-back dog; Koma, the youngest group member associated with a bathhouse; and Nora, a street-smart stray cat. They also encounter Bull, a bulldog who sometimes bullies the group and also harbors feelings for Momo.
