Katta Kirifuda is the younger brother of Shobu Kirifuda. He entered the world in a persistent vegetative state, his soul wandering independently for years until revived by his grandfather Katsuzo Kirifuda feeding him curry bread. This act left a distinctive "V" scar on his forehead and ignited a lifelong obsession with curry bread while creating an aversion to other stuffed breads like bean paste bread. During rehabilitation, he forged a close friendship with Lulu Takigawa. The disappearance of his brother Shobu following their final duel fueled deep-seated resentment towards both Shobu and the Duel Masters card game, amplified by feelings of inferiority.

Initially cocky, carefree, and dismissive of Duel Masters, Katta underwent significant development. His reluctant dueling journey began with a challenge from Dragon Ryu, leading him to join the "Triple Dash Victory Tournament" alongside teammates Yohdel and Bucchake. Using a borrowed deck, he won his first match through the activation of his "Victory Mode"—a state triggered when the "V" scar glowed, transforming his personality into a fiercely competitive and strategically aggressive mindset echoing Shobu. He learned to control this ability over time, eventually using it to communicate directly with creature spirits during duels. His skills advanced rapidly under Benchan's guidance, constructing a Fire Civilization deck centered around Shobu's遗留 card, Raging Dragon Lord.

Throughout his dueling career, Katta displayed a strong moral compass, protecting both human allies and creature spirits from dishonorable tactics. He fiercely opposed opponents who disrespected cards or employed psychological manipulation, embodying the belief that dueling should prioritize fun and mutual respect over vengeance. Despite initially rejecting comparisons to Shobu, he shared his brother's traits of honor, self-belief, and commitment to safeguarding life. His journey gradually dissolved his hatred for the game, culminating in reconciliation with Shobu after discovering he was alive, though they maintained a competitive rivalry.

In the Victory V3 season, Katta confronted threats like the Oracle Cult and Outrage creatures. A pivotal moment occurred when Izumo attacked and captured Rei, leaving Katta unconscious and trapped in a subconscious realm. There, he relived memories of battles and friendships, reinforcing his resolve to protect others. This introspection culminated in his awakening and intensified efforts to combat the Oracle's influence, strategically leveraging new Outrage creature races in duels.

As an adult, Katta matured into a Cosmic Biology professor, drawing on his experiences interacting with creature spirits. He married Lulu Takigawa and fathered Joe Kirifuda, supporting Joe's dueling growth with challenges mirroring those once given by their father Shori to Shobu. Though less overtly eccentric, he retained his fondness for curry bread. His legacy continued through Joe, whom he guided with the same protective dedication Shori had shown Shobu.
