Description
Gabriel Miller was born in March 1998 in Pacific Palisades, California. His father's insect specimen collection led Gabriel to study insects with a magnifying glass. Observing a headless praying mantis move during mating ignited his obsession with life forces. He experimented by removing insect body parts, concluding their souls were distributed throughout. Unable to visually capture an insect's soul, he shifted to humans, theorizing souls resided in brains since humans cannot survive decapitation.
He targeted childhood friend Alicia Klingerman, intending to marry her to access her soul. During the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, as her financially ruined family prepared to move, Gabriel lured Alicia to a forest laboratory. While hugging her, he pierced her left ear with an insect needle while gripping her right ear, killing her. He reported witnessing a "small glittering cloud" exit her forehead, which he interpreted as her soul. This cemented his obsession with capturing and consuming human souls.
As an adult, Gabriel became Chief Tactical Officer at Glowgen Defense Systems, his father's private military company. FullDive technology drew his interest for its soul-interface potential. He learned Japanese and entered Gun Gale Online (GGO) as "Subtilizer" (soul stealer). He won the 1st Bullet of Bullets tournament with only a knife and handgun, and the 4th BoB without weapons—using the «Army Combatative» skill to grapple opponents, steal their weapons, and kill them. His combat style predicted enemy movements to ambush them at close range. During tournaments, he mused aloud about opponents' souls' taste.
When the U.S. National Security Agency contracted Glowgen to assault the Ocean Turtle facility and seize Soul Translator technology, Gabriel volunteered. The device's ability to duplicate and interact with human fluctlights (souls) aligned with his obsession. He dived into the Underworld using the super-account of the Dark God Vecta.
As Vecta, Gabriel commanded Dark Territory armies. His account had maximum durability and mid-level system control permissions. Abilities included Sacred Arts (reality-warping commands), Fluctlight manipulation (soul absorption, memory alteration, forced sleep), and intangibility against magical/energy attacks—though physical projectiles harmed him. His incarnation (willpower-based reality alteration) subconsciously manifested barriers and attack absorption. He wielded the Void Blade for disintegration and void manipulation.
During war, Gabriel fought Sinon channeling Sun Goddess Solus's power. Despite limb loss and facial injuries, his Vecta durability ensured survival. Pursuing Alice Zuberg to consume her soul, he absorbed fallen warriors' souls and willpower, evolving his incarnation into an "Angel of Death" form. This replaced intangibility with elemental intangibility via a liquid-metal body, granting telekinesis, thread manipulation, and danmaku energy attacks. Kirito described this form as a "black hole" of nothingness.
In his final battle against Kirito, Gabriel mimicked techniques including Kirito's incarnation. Kirito overwhelmed him by unifying allies' willpower like Eugeo (posthumously) and Asuna. Gabriel disintegrated, his last thoughts fixated on Alicia's soul as consciousness faded.
Gabriel Miller exhibited no empathy, viewing souls as collectible objects. His singular motivation—from insect experiments to Alicia's murder and Ocean Turtle assault—remained witnessing and capturing human souls. This psychopathy extended to virtual spaces, where he prolonged battles to savor victims' emotional reactions, enhancing his soul-consumption experience.
