TV-Series
Description
Mirage, designated Counter Arrow in Japanese media, operates as an elite Autobot Spychanger. He excels as the unit's premier marksman. His Spychanger physiology grants exceptional driving capabilities across virtually any surface and an active cloaking mechanism enabling invisibility, crucial assets for reconnaissance and combat effectiveness.

A loner disposition often creates friction with teammates like W.A.R.S., contrasting his enduring loyalty within a specific partnership with fellow Spychanger Ironhide. Key narrative arcs highlight his tactical ingenuity and complex team dynamics. Protecting a ruby from Predacon theft, he deliberately withheld fire to avoid hitting a volatile chemical tank, causing mission failure and apparent alienation. This alienation masked a calculated deception; after discovering a Predacon transmitter planted by Gas Skunk, Mirage feigned disillusionment and potential defection. He covertly signaled his true allegiance to the Spychangers, successfully leading them to locate and destroy a Predacon laser weapon with T-AI and the Global Space Bridge.

Later missions solidify his team role: participating in the International Grand Prix to find Skid-Z (temporarily blinded by Megatron), aiding in quelling Predacon-induced volcanic activity on Montrose Island (diverting lava and reassuring Crosswise during engine overheating), protecting Fortress Maximus from Decepticons, and joining the final ambush against Galvatron.

Expanded lore via *Ask Vector Prime* adds continuity layers. Within Japanese Generation 1 cartoon continuity, following God Magnus's departure, Mirage (Counter Arrow) gains a "Super Mode" upgrade via Spark Engines. This form grants immense speed, creating "images," and unmatched quick-draw prowess. Exploits include defeating Jackhammer in Antarctica using illusions and aiding in the capture of Chainsaw and the Mutants with fellow Super Spychangers. Though their Go-Brillium power depleted, they retained new color schemes. He also appears in the *Legends* comic, fighting Combatrons under Scourge on the Neo Brave Maximus.

A divergent future timeline (Viron 102.0 Beta) sees his spark captured during the Spark War. Using a Genetronic Translink System, he remotely controls a Vehicon body, traveling back in time to guide the Protector against Cryotek. He then joins the Elite Guard as "Mirage GT," confronting threats like the Recyclons, Planet X, Destructicons, Metabeasts, the Intruder Empire, and the Elder Gods.

Merchandise and spin-offs feature multiple iterations. The original *Robots in Disguise* (2001) toy redecos the Generation 2 Go-Bot Double Clutch mold, transforming into a Lola T94 Indy car with heat-sensitive insignia. Variants include a Japanese JUSCO-exclusive clear-blue/clear-green version, a Hasbro two-pack with Ironhide featuring extra red paint, Kay-Bee-exclusive clear plastic releases, and later "Super Counter Arrow" redecoes in red/black or clear plastic retaining paint operations. He is playable in the *3D Battle Card Game* with holographic projection abilities. Supplementary material associates a special attack, "Mirage Mortar," with the character.
