Description
Lisa Isaribe, formerly known by the codename Feeler during her time with the Knights of the Ashen Flame, is a Third Generation pyrokinetic who later becomes a member of Special Fire Force Company 8. She was originally introduced as a spy planted by Dr. Giovanni within the workshop of the inventor Vulcan Joseph. Her mission was to uncover the secrets of the Amaterasu, a sacred energy source tied to Vulcan’s family. Lisa’s backstory involves a traumatic event: her parents were killed by Flame Humans, an event that caused her pyrokinetic abilities to awaken after she was implanted with an Infernal Bug. She adopted the identity of Lisa Isaribe to infiltrate Vulcan’s life and gain his trust.
Her personality is initially marked by a fiery and antagonistic demeanor, especially toward members of the Fire Force, though she is capable of civil conversation and shows disdain for the church when it is insulted in front of Iris. Despite being brainwashed to serve Dr. Giovanni’s orders, Vulcan’s genuine kindness often brings out her true, more vulnerable nature. However, Dr. Giovanni’s coercive methods force her to adopt a fear-driven alternate persona known as Feeler. Over time, she breaks free from this control and seeks to protect the found family she has discovered.
Her role in the story begins as an antagonist during the Vulcan’s Workshop arc, where she reveals her true objective and attacks Vulcan and his companions. After her betrayal is exposed and she is freed from Dr. Giovanni’s influence, she eventually joins Special Fire Force Company 8, redeeming herself by fighting alongside them against the White-Clad. Her key relationships include Vulcan, who took her in and offered her a home despite her deception, and Dr. Giovanni, her manipulator. Her development centers on overcoming her brainwashing, choosing her own loyalties, and embracing her place within Company 8.
As a Third Generation pyrokinetic, Lisa can generate and control flames from her own body. Her signature ability is to shape these flames into tentacle-like whips, which she uses for striking, restraining, or pursuing targets with great flexibility. The codename Feeler directly references this fluid, prehensile combat style.
