TV-Series
Description
Kinrou is a resident of Ishigami Village and serves as one of its primary gatekeepers, a role he performs alongside his younger brother, Ginrou. He is a direct descendant of the six astronauts who were in space when the worldwide petrification event occurred, making him part of the lineage that founded the village. His name incorporates the kanji for gold, aligning with the village tradition of naming its members after metals and minerals. At the start of the series, he is eighteen years old.

In terms of personality, Kinrou is defined by his unwavering seriousness and strict adherence to rules. He takes his duty as a guard with the utmost gravity and is not easily distracted. He despises laziness and cheating in any form, firmly believing that rules must be upheld regardless of the circumstances. An example of this rigid honor is when he refused Senku entry to the village even after Senku had saved a villager's life, simply because the rules forbade outsiders. This commitment to righteousness is so strong that during a tournament to decide the next village chief, he forfeited a match he had won because he felt his victory was achieved unfairly with the aid of Senku's glasses. Despite his stern exterior, he possesses a surprisingly emotional and even vain side. He developed a strong sentimental attachment to his spear after Senku coated its tip with gold, and he initially refused to admit he suffered from nearsightedness, which he called a blurry eye disease, out of pride and a desire not to show weakness. He is also genuinely excited by new scientific inventions, such as the automobile, despite his typical disdain for frivolity.

Kinrou's primary motivation is the protection of Ishigami Village and the faithful execution of his duties. His loyalty is profound, and he prioritizes the safety of the community above all else. In a critical moment when he was hanging from a bridge and facing certain death, his first thought was to instruct his brother to cut the ropes to protect the villagers from an invader. Initially suspicious of Senku and dismissive of science, which he referred to as sorcery, he eventually becomes a loyal member of the Kingdom of Science. He comes to trust Senku's leadership completely, accepting his commands as law once Senku is elected chief.

His role in the story evolves from a simple, rule-bound guard to a key combatant for the Kingdom of Science. He is a core member of the village's powerful fighting force and is crucial in the conflicts against the Tsukasa Empire. His strength and combat skills make him an invaluable asset in battle, often serving on the front lines.

Kinrou's most significant relationship is with his brother, Ginrou. He acts as the stern, responsible foil to Ginrou's cowardly and lazy nature. Kinrou often expresses frustration with his brother, but this stems from a deep-seated care for him and a desire for him to improve. He frequently scolds Ginrou but also demonstrates pride in his brother's moments of growth and courage. He is the son of Tetsuken and Shirogane. His other key relationship is with Senku. He begins as an obstacle to Senku, then a skeptical ally, and finally a steadfast and loyal subordinate who respects Senku's intellect and authority. He also has a noted rivalry with Magma, another strong villager, whom he surpasses in raw power but can be outmaneuvered by due to his strict sense of honor.

Kinrou undergoes notable development throughout the series. His biggest turning point is overcoming his pride to accept a pair of glasses that correct his nearsightedness. This simple scientific solution transforms him from a fighter who could not perform at his peak to one of the village's strongest warriors. He also experiences significant intellectual growth. Initially, he saw no value in arithmetic or literacy, deeming them useless for a warrior. However, he eventually enrolls in the science literacy classes held by the Kingdom of Science and learns to write his name, demonstrating an ability to adapt and change his rigid worldview. By the end of the main story, he accepts an invitation from Yo Uei and becomes a police officer, a profession well-suited to his sense of justice and order.

Kinrou possesses notable abilities centered on his physical prowess and combat skills. He is consistently ranked as one of the most physically powerful members of Ishigami Village, with his strength rivaling that of Magma and Kohaku. His official stat rankings place his power at 3 out of 5, speed at 2 out of 5, technique at 3 out of 5, and reach at 4 out of 5. He is highly skilled in wielding a spear, which is his primary weapon, and also proves to be competent with a sword. He complements his offensive capabilities with a buckler, a small shield, which he wears on his back for defense. After receiving his custom-made glasses, his combat effectiveness increases dramatically, as his vision is no longer a hindrance, allowing him to fight at his true potential.
