Yô Uei was a pre-petrification police officer known for his trigger-happy tendencies, frequently shooting fleeing suspects, which hindered his career. He was petrified while urinating on a wall.
Revived by Tsukasa Shishio, he joined the Tsukasa Empire as an enforcer. Tasked with guarding Chrome during the Stone Wars, he failed and, fearing punishment, faked his death and fled. He encountered the captive Homura, who promised him benefits in exchange for freedom. Returning to the empire, he found it merged with the Kingdom of Science and falsely claimed amnesia to integrate, assisting Yuzuriha in statue repair as penance.
Assigned to the farming division under Taiju, his abrasive nature led to frequent conflicts with Magma over the superiority of modern humans versus Stone World natives. Lazy and work-averse, he was easily motivated by promises of profit or power, manipulated by Senku and Gen into tasks. He participated in the ship-building contest, producing only a poor-quality raft, and expressed jealousy toward Ryusui Nanami's lavish lifestyle. Initially dismissive of science he didn't understand, he grew amazed by Senku's inventions and wished he had met him before petrification.
On Treasure Island, he was petrified by Kirisame under Ibara's orders and dumped into the sea. After recovery and revival, he was entrusted with a firearm as the only member with gun experience. Tempted by its power, he was encouraged to become the Stone World's sheriff through flattery. Missing his first target but hitting a snake, he resolved to practice shooting secretly. In battle, he missed shooting Moz but successfully shot the petrification device from Ibara's hand, only to be immediately re-petrified.
Revived again, he threatened Tsukasa with his gun upon Tsukasa's revival, nervous about his intentions toward Senku, but relented as new threats emerged.
During the voyage to America, he gambled on the Perseus, losing most of his money to Ginro, and complained repeatedly about the lack of alcohol until beer was recreated. He drunkenly recounted his experiences against Ibara. In North America, he joined the warrior team escorting the explorers, excited to hunt alligators for meat. When the group was attacked by an unknown assailant in a plane, he futilely shot at it despite warnings.
Easily persuaded by Magma to launch a reckless attack on Dr. Xeno, he was prevented by Nikki. He commented that Senku might prefer blonde girls when Luna arrived, likely projecting his own tastes, and ogled her on the ship. During air combat, Ryusui took his gun for use as a makeshift machine gun. He was subdued by a large soldier from Stanley's unit and held captive with Magma.
In South America, he expressed doubt about creating diamonds but became amazed and invested in the process, gloating about potential wealth after success. Joining the fight for the petrification device, he was shot in the torso. Encouraged by Nikki to continue despite his injury, he was petrified when the device activated.
After nine years, he was revived in Corn City and participated in crafting a computer. He complained about labor and mocked a math contest until a cash prize was announced, then became motivated. He helped deliver corn and the petrification device to Senku's team in Australia and expressed satisfaction with farming work in Indonesia due to his interest in food. Returning to Japan, he approved of the villagers building a dam and later fed Suika's pets, influencing them to stay. He participated in a village feast.
He was petrified again when the device mysteriously activated during the Moon Mission arc.
Physically, he is a lean, muscular man of slightly above-average height with wild, spiky auburn hair. He often wore a stone eyepatch over his right eye, which reappeared even after being discarded. Post-fifth petrification, his hair was shorter due to breakage. His typical attire included a short, grey sleeveless yukata with a large left shoulder pad, a spiked necklace, and ankle bracelets. He also wore modern clothing from Yuzuriha's store and later a Kingdom of Science uniform with insignia-bearing shoulder pads. As an officer, he wore a standard uniform.
His abilities include police combat training, proficiency with tonfas, running, and marksmanship. His shooting accuracy was initially poor but improved with practice, though not to Ukyo's level. Statistically, his power is rated 3/5, speed 4/5, technique 5/5, and reach 1/5.
His personality is abrasive, arrogant, rude, cowardly, lazy, and work-averse. He believes in the superiority of modern humans and looks down on others. Easily manipulated by desires for power and greed, he nonetheless showed care for his subordinates by taking blame for their failures and worked to redeem himself through statue repair.
