TV-Series
Description
Fudō Kazanari, a centenarian political manipulator, operates behind Japan's governmental structures from within the influential Kazanari family. He is the biological father of Genjuro and Yatsuhiro Kazanari, and also biologically fathered Tsubasa Kazanari. To secure a "pure-blooded" heir for the clan, Fudō orchestrated Tsubasa's birth by impregnating Yatsuhiro's wife. His family members display submissive behavior, reflecting his authoritarian control.
Historically, Fudō served as the inaugural commander of Japan's Special Disaster Response Team Section Two. He resigned following a scandal involving the disappearance of the relic Ichaival, stolen by Finé. Retreating from public view, he exerted covert influence instead of retiring. His clandestine efforts were instrumental in enacting Japan's disaster defense legislation, earning him a reputation as a national "sentinel" dedicated to preserving the country's foundations. Former political rivals uniformly feared him, referring to him as a "monster."
During *Symphogear XV*, Fudō collaborated with the alchemist group Noble Red, promising them a blood-based sustenance necessary for their survival in exchange for assistance. He allied with Vanessa, who possessed the Bracelet of Shem-Ha obtained from an ancient Custodian's corpse. Fudō leveraged Noble Red's attacks to destabilize Tsubasa psychologically, activating Millaarc's "Stained Glance" seal on Tsubasa during a concert assault to exacerbate her trauma. He later directly manipulated Tsubasa by dismissing her strength and capabilities, deepening her emotional turmoil.
Despite his age, Fudō demonstrates formidable physical prowess. His combat techniques include *Kuji-kiri* (九字護身法), a series of nine hand gestures unleashing powerful attacks. He accesses supernatural abilities like Millaarc's seal on Tsubasa through verbal commands. His endurance and strength hint at the Kazanari bloodline's near-inhuman traits.
Following the events of *XV*, Fudō is incarcerated for his actions. His legacy endures through his manipulation of geopolitical and familial dynamics, particularly his exploitation of the Kazanari lineage to further his agendas.
