Description
Ai Miyashita is a lively second-year student at Nijigasaki High School and an active member of the school’s idol club, performing in the subunit DiverDiva with the image color ultra orange. Raised primarily by her grandmother while her parents worked at the family restaurant, she developed a deep bond with her and a fondness for her grandmother’s homemade fermented pickles, nukazuke. Ai also shares a sister-like relationship with her childhood neighbor, Misato Kawamoto, whose frequent illnesses led Ai to tell puns and wordplay to cheer her up—a habit that continues into her teens, even if others rarely find her jokes funny. Highly sociable, energetic, and approachable, she speaks casually and constantly weaves puns into conversation, often playing on her own name, which means “love.” Despite a gyaru fashion style featuring light blonde hair usually styled in a ponytail and orange eyes, she defies stereotypes by excelling academically and athletically, assisting various school clubs as a substitute member. Her genuine authenticity and willingness to help earn her widespread popularity, though she remains largely unaware of her flawless reputation. Ai joined the idol club after a classmate challenged her to explore the “unseen world” of idols, appealing to her love of new experiences. She also collaborates with classmates Ayumu Uehara and Rina Tennōji on content for Famitsu App, where she researches articles and gains media insights that inform her idol activities. She shows particular support for Rina, readily using her communication board and planning casual outings like shopping trips and pancake meals. Her grandmother taught her to switch to formal keigo when needed, though she defaults to casual speech. Ai’s motivation includes making her grandmother proud and sharing new perspectives through her performances. Standing 163 cm tall with an athletic build, she carries candy as a habit and enjoys fashion, mobile apps, and games.
