OVA
Description
Ai Miyashita is a second-year Nijigasaki High School student and member of its idol club, primarily active in the subunit DiverDiva with an image color of ultra orange.
Growing up primarily under her grandmother's care due to her parents' work at the family restaurant, Ai developed a strong bond with her. Her grandmother instilled manners and proper speech, leaving Ai with a fondness for her homemade fermented pickles (nukazuke) and candy. A long-standing relationship with her neighbor, Misato Kawamoto, whom Ai views as an older sister figure, significantly shaped her personality. To cheer up the often bedridden Misato, Ai began using puns, developing a lasting love for wordplay even though others rarely find her jokes funny.
Ai presents as sociable and energetic with a gyaru fashion style, sometimes leading to assumptions she is rebellious or academically disengaged. However, she excels in both academics and sports, maintaining high grades and assisting various school teams as a substitute member due to her athleticism. She speaks casually, employs slang, and enjoys fashion and mobile apps/games.
Her popularity stems from her approachable nature, willingness to help, and involvement in multiple clubs. Despite widespread likability, Ai remains unaware of her flawless reputation and doesn't see herself as superior. She shows empathy and support, especially towards friends like Rina Tennoji, using the "Rina-chan Board" to communicate with the shy Rina. Ai also collaborates with Ayumu Uehara and Rina on the Famitsu App website, researching articles and discussing topics like popular apps with Ayumu.
Ai joined the school idol club after a friend challenged her perception of the idol world, prompting her pursuit of becoming a top school idol to experience and share new perspectives. Making her grandmother proud is a key motivation. Within the club, her puns and energy act as mood-makers, sometimes met with exasperation. Despite her outwardly goofy appearance, she maintains a levelheaded and organized approach to activities.
Across official media, including the anime, game *Love Live! School Idol Festival ALL STARS*, and the *Nijiyon* spin-off manga, Ai consistently displays her caring personality, love for puns, and dedication to her family and the idol club. Her background with Famitsu App reinforces her curiosity about new experiences and media production.
