Description
Orsted is the hundredth Dragon God in the world of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and one of its most formidable figures. He is the son of the First Dragon God, who, before dying, used a secret technique of the dragon tribe to send his son far into the future with a single overriding mission: to kill Hitogami, the entity known as the Human God. Born roughly twenty thousand years before the main events of the story, Orsted witnessed the destruction of the dragon world and the death of his father, both of which were brought about through Hitogami's machinations. This loss defines his existence. The technique used to carry him across time also binds him to a cycle in which history resets roughly every two hundred years, returning him to the same starting point if he fails or dies. Orsted has lived through more than a hundred of these loops, and the accumulated knowledge, skills, and memories of those repeated lives make him one of the most experienced and dangerous beings alive, even though he must rebuild his body from scratch at the beginning of each cycle.

Despite his fearsome reputation, Orsted's true personality is patient, gentle, and sincere, especially toward those he considers allies. He is rational and pragmatic, rarely showing emotion, and he speaks in a blunt, straightforward way because he values honesty over politeness. On his first encounter with Rudeus, Eris, and Ruijerd, Orsted easily defeats the latter two and pierces Rudeus's chest, killing him, after concluding that Rudeus is an apostle of Hitogami. He later revives Rudeus at Nanahoshi's urging. In their second confrontation, which Rudeus has prepared for extensively, Orsted still wins overwhelmingly. Rather than kill him, he offers an ultimatum: serve Orsted and receive protection for his family from Hitogami, or die. Rudeus accepts, and the two form a powerful alliance with a common enemy. Rudeus becomes Orsted's right-hand man and takes to calling him the boss, even naming their informal organization the Orsted Corporation. Their relationship develops from hostility into deep mutual trust and respect, and Orsted comes to regard Rudeus and his family as people genuinely worth protecting.

Nanahoshi, a young woman summoned to the world, travels with him and is immune to his curse, making her one of the few people he can speak with openly; she also serves as a bridge between him and Rudeus. Perugius, the Dragon King, is an old acquaintance from the dragon tribe who is likewise unaffected by the curse. Atoferatofe is a loyal ally within his faction. The most important relationship, however, is with Rudeus, who goes from victim of Orsted's wrath to trusted subordinate and, in time, something close to a partner in the long war against Hitogami. He also wields the Dragon Sacred Battle Aura, a technique that coats his body in magical energy and grants overwhelming defensive power, and he possesses a unique innate magic called Disrupt Magic that interferes with an opponent's spells. He can resist or nullify attacks of at least emperor-class magical power, and his physical strength and regenerative abilities are extraordinary. When he is truly serious, his destructive potential is said to be enough to shatter the world itself.
