Talhand is a dwarf magician and former member of Paul Greyrat's adventurer party, the Fang of the Black Wolf. Born the 37th of 51 siblings in a dwarf village practicing communal child-rearing, he formed a close bond with his younger brother Godbard, designated the next Ore God. To support Godbard as his right-hand adviser, Talhand undertook the non-traditional dwarven study of water and wind magic. This plan shattered when Godbard publicly rejected him during the succession ceremony, leading to a blacksmithing competition Talhand lost. The betrayal drove him from his homeland, instilling deep-seated trust issues and a personal motto to "be alone."
He became a solo adventurer, achieving B-rank status. His homosexuality complicated this path, causing prejudice that hindered party recruitment. He met Elinalise Dragonroad; her initial romantic pursuit evolved into reliable comradeship after she learned his orientation. Their complementary skills—Elinalise as an agile warrior and Talhand as a heavily armored mage—enabled effective collaboration despite frequent arguments. Paul Greyrat later united them with Ghislaine Dedoldia and Geese Nukadia, forming the Fang of the Black Wolf, a party of societal outcasts. Talhand placed faith in Paul's unrestrained approach, but this trust fractured when Paul distanced himself after marrying Zenith, reinforcing Talhand's aversion to group affiliations.
Physically, Talhand embodies typical dwarven traits: short stature, muscular build, and a long orange beard split into two forks by dark bracers. He wears dark armor and a helmet with a white robe, prioritizing defense due to his lack of agility. His magical abilities include intermediate earth magic and elementary fire, water, and wind magic, reflecting both his racial affinity for earth and fire and his non-traditional studies. He fights as a "magic knight," wielding an axe-like wand for combat and spellcasting, specializing in tanking enemy attacks, as demonstrated against foes like the Manatite Hydra.
Following the Fittoa Teleport Incident, Talhand joined Roxy Migurdia and Elinalise to search for Zenith. He accompanied Roxy to inform Paul of Zenith's location in the Bergarit Continent labyrinth and participated in the rescue mission, tanking hydra attacks while partnering with Roxy. His relationship with Paul remained strained, but he prioritized Zenith's safety over personal grievances.
Later, Talhand settled in Millishion, honing his blacksmithing skills and integrating his diverse magical knowledge to create high-quality weapons and armor. His growing reputation earned sponsorship from the Rudeus Mercenary Company. He opened his own shop and reconciled with Godbard by arranging a meeting between him and Rudeus, facilitating business for the Ore God Corporation. Notably, he forged a sword from Rudeus's black ore that captured the Ore God's interest, strengthening ties between the corporation and Orsted's faction.
Talhand's personality blends traditional dwarven traits—love of alcohol, blacksmithing, and stoicism—with nonconformity. He is pragmatic, loyal to trusted allies like Elinalise and Roxy, and openly homosexual without imposing on others. His development culminates in emotional resolution: reconciling with Godbard and establishing himself as a respected craftsman, symbolizing closure from his past ostracization.
