OVA
Description
Mai is one of three Cyberdolls delivered to Hideo Ozu, each modeled after his childhood friend and actress Mai Kurosawa at distinct life stages. She specifically embodies the adult version of Mai Kurosawa, contrasting with the younger Ai and Mie. These dolls arrive following the collapse of Hideo's personal and professional relationship with the real Mai Kurosawa, precipitated by her use of his amateur footage in her biography video.

Their appearance coincides with Hideo's career crisis as an editor at a dubious adult video company. Disillusioned by Mai Kurosawa's betrayal, he redirects his focus toward his original dream of becoming a film director. He decides to employ the three Cyberdolls—particularly Mai—as central figures in this new venture, aiming to create content that rivals or counters Mai Kurosawa's biographical release.

As a Cyberdoll, Mai assists Hideo in his directorial pursuits. Her design and personality are a direct mirror of the adult Mai Kurosawa, forging a thematic link to Hideo's unresolved personal and artistic conflicts. The evolving dynamics between Hideo and the Cyberdolls, including Mai, form the story's core, exploring themes of creation, identity, and reconciliation through their collaborative film project.

The narrative positions Mai as both a creative tool for Hideo's filmmaking and a symbolic representation of his past. However, only one episode of the OVA was officially released before its distributor declared bankruptcy during production. Consequently, Mai's character arc, along with those of Ai and Mie, remains without further elaboration or conclusion, with no documented additional seasons, movies, or spin-offs featuring her.
