Deku bears a forest green top half braided mohawk and black tattoos of his village symbol on both sides of his head. His eyes are black. He wears a green tunic, black pants, and boots.

He exhibits an outspoken and carefree attitude through his interactions and actions.

Deku aids Magoichi in defending Saika village from invaders. After their initial defense efforts, he shares a hot spring bath with Magoichi. The next day, Hototogisu alerts them to new invaders intent on destroying the village. In the ensuing battle against these invaders, Deku and Magoichi face overwhelming force. Deku suffers a stabbing wound during the conflict. Despite his injury, he demands Magoichi proceed without him.
