Mike Coil, also known as Maiku Koiru, is a perceptive and reserved 15-year-old who pilots the Burst Dragon (Bakuryu) ninja robot. He formed a close, brother-like bond with Joe Maya following their shared experience as the first two individuals to witness the crash of the Xenos 5 spaceship on Mars, an event that led to Mike becoming the Burst Dragon's third pilot. This bond fuels Mike's protectiveness; he frequently leaps to Joe's defense against criticism or skepticism, despite their lack of blood relation.

While Joe is impulsive, Mike exhibits sensitivity and reserve. His perceptive nature surfaces in critiques of Joe's behavior, particularly Joe's treatment of Jenny, which once led Mike to physically confront him. Mike's reserved demeanor extends to his romantic interest in Jade (Schaffe), Princess Romina's aide, prompting him to seek courting advice from both Joe and Jenny.

Physically, Mike has short blonde hair styled wavy with side fringes and dark blue eyes. He typically wears a red short-sleeved collar jacket over a light blue sleeveless top, light blue pants held by a brown belt, brown boots, light brown fingerless rider gloves, and a gold chained necklace featuring a blade design. When piloting Burst Dragon, he removes his jacket and necklace, revealing a white high-neck short-sleeved top with red outlines. His pilot attire adds a gray belt, white knee-length boots with gray pentagon designs in red trim, and white wristbands with red trim over his retained fingerless gloves.
