Description
Shin is a player in the VRMMORPG NewWorld Online and a supporting character across all official media. He belongs to the Kingdom of the Flame Emperor guild and earned the seventh rank in the first official in-game event, gaining the title "Destructor".
His character model presents an ordinary adult male with medium-length black hair, black eyes, and a standard male physique for his age. This unremarkable look led players to colloquially dub him the "King of Ordinary" or "Villager A", highlighting the contrast between his appearance and his competitive strength.
Shin maintains a friendly demeanor towards his guildmates and members of the Maple Tree guild. He harbors a specific rivalry with Maple Tree's samurai player, Kasumi, stemming from his defeat by her during the first event. Though competitive, their interactions remain respectful, and they collaborate when necessary.
Throughout the series, Shin participates in multiple events. During the fourth event's second day, he encountered Kasumi and initiated a rematch to show his growth since their first battle, though he lost again. Later, when the Flame Emperor guild faced a siege, reports of Maple's impending arrival prompted Shin to fight aggressively to reduce enemy numbers. He attended Maple Tree's post-competition celebration after being friends-listed by Maple.
In the Companions Arc, Shin, alongside guildmates Marx and Misery, observed Maple training her pet Syrup, showcasing his own pet, a hawk or falcon (alternately referred to as an eagle in some translations). During the eighth event, Shin and Kasumi teamed up on the second day to clear a dungeon. After Mii located them, they assisted in regrouping allies. Shin later joined Chrome, Drag, and Kasumi in a desert dungeon, contributing to defeating bosses like the Ruby Cobra and Crystal Scorpion. On the event's third day, he participated in the collaborative takedown of the boss Cthulhu alongside multiple guilds.
Shin's combat centers on his signature active skill, "Destructor" (also localized as "Split-Sword"). This ability causes his weapon to crumble into fragments that float and transform into ten miniature duplicates, controlled telekinetically. Activating the skill again splits them further into twenty pieces.
His relationships include his monster companion, Wen; his guildmaster, Mii; and guildmates Marx and Misery. His dynamic with Kasumi evolves from rivalry to cooperative teamwork during events, though he consistently seeks to defeat her in solo matches.
