Description
Armin Arlert was raised by his grandfather in Shiganshina District after his parents died for illegally attempting to explore the outside world via hot air balloon. His grandfather's forbidden book, depicting oceans and deserts beyond the Walls, ignited Armin's obsession with the external world. This curiosity made him a target for bullying as a heretic until Eren Yeager defended him, forging a lifelong friendship later joined by Mikasa Ackerman. When Wall Maria fell, Armin's grandfather perished in a government-orchestrated refugee reduction scheme, leaving Armin dependent on Eren's family until they enlisted in the military.

Physically weak and plagued by self-doubt during 104th Cadet Corps training, Armin graduated below the top ten yet repeatedly proved indispensable through tactical brilliance under pressure. He volunteered for near-suicidal acts—like remaining horseless during an evacuation or baiting the Colossus Titan—while devising critical strategies: retrieving supplies in Trost, restraining the Female Titan, and concealing Wall Rose's breach. These saved countless lives and earned Erwin Smith’s and Levi’s trust. Severely burned during Shiganshina’s battle, he was revived with the last Titan serum instead of Erwin. By consuming Bertolt Hoover, he inherited the Colossus Titan, enduring survivor’s guilt while overcoming fear to embrace leadership. As the 15th Survey Corps Commander after Hange Zoë’s death, he coordinated efforts to halt Eren Yeager’s genocidal Rumbling. Swallowed by an Okapi Titan, he entered the Paths dimension, convinced Zeke Yeager to cease the Rumbling through self-sacrifice, and confronted Eren, understanding but rejecting his methods.

Armin’s loyalty to Eren and Mikasa defined his youth, though he later opposed Eren’s annihilation and vowed to share the burden of killing 80% of humanity. His relationship with Annie Leonhart evolved from mutual Cadet Corps respect to romance; she spared him during her Female Titan rampage, and he visited her during crystalline imprisonment. Post-release, they fought together. He relied on deep bonds with Jean Kirstein, Connie Springer, and Reiner Braun during crises.

Influenced by Erwin Smith and Dot Pixis, Armin viewed morality as relative, believing goals in a cruel world required sacrificing one’s humanity. Despite orchestrating Liberio’s massacre—which shattered him emotionally—he retained core empathy, rejecting "good" or "evil" labels for contextual judgment. Post-Rumbling, he became a peace ambassador between Paradis and Marley, striving to end cyclical hatred. His journey underscored that intellectual courage could change the world where brute strength failed.
