Description
Gabi Braun is an Eldian child soldier raised within Marley's Liberio internment zone. As a Warrior candidate poised to inherit the Armored Titan from her cousin Reiner Braun, she demonstrates exceptional combat skills and fierce determination from a young age. Her appearance features medium-length dark brown hair often kept half-tied, wide brown eyes, and the standard Marleyan military uniform modified with Eldian insignia, including an armband signifying her Eldian status.
Intensely patriotic towards Marley, Gabi's worldview is shaped by propaganda depicting Paradis Island Eldians as "devils," leading her to believe their elimination will free interned Eldians. Confident in her abilities, she frequently assumes leadership among fellow candidates Falco Grice, Zofia, and Udo. Her personality blends bravery with impulsiveness, exemplified when she single-handedly destroyed an armored train during the Fort Slava battle using improvised explosives, saving hundreds of Eldian soldiers.
The Raid on Liberio drastically alters Gabi's path. Witnessing the deaths of Zofia and Udo during Eren Yeager's attack and seeing thousands of Marleyans killed, she boards an escaping airship seeking vengeance. In a grief-fuelled act, she fires indiscriminately inside, killing Survey Corps member Sasha Blouse, driven by rage and lifelong indoctrination.
Captured and taken to Paradis Island, Gabi initially maintains her hatred for its inhabitants. However, exposure to Sasha's family—particularly Kaya, whose kindness persists despite Gabi killing her sister—begins challenging her prejudices. Through these interactions and observing the humanity of Paradis residents, she gradually questions Marleyan propaganda and acknowledges the shared suffering on both sides.
During the Rumbling's onset, Gabi shoots Eren Yeager to prevent global annihilation, though this only halts him temporarily. She subsequently joins the alliance of Eldians, Marleyans, and Paradis soldiers united to stop Eren's genocide. Her marksmanship proves critical in the final battle, protecting allies like Falco and helping disable Eren's Founding Titan form.
Gabi's arc concludes with her fighting to break the cycle of vengeance. She survives the conflict and eventually receives forgiveness from Sasha's family, marking her transition from a brainwashed child soldier to someone recognizing morality's complexity beyond nationalist ideologies.
