Description
Sasha Blouse hailed from Dauper Village, a remote southern settlement within Wall Rose. As a hunter's daughter, she mastered forest survival skills before military enlistment. Her life shifted when refugees from fallen Wall Maria flooded the region, causing game scarcity and food shortages. Clashing with her father over his plan to convert forests into farmland for refugees, she rejected this adaptation and joined the military in defiance.
Ranking 9th in the 104th Cadet Corps, Sasha developed compulsive food habits and initial timidity under stress. She earned the nickname "Potato Girl" after stealing a steamed potato during initiation ceremonies. When caught by instructor Keith Shadis, she offered him a smaller portion while keeping the larger piece, resulting in five hours of continuous running. Later, hunger drove her to snatch bread from Krista Lenz after collapsing.
Embarrassed by her provincial roots, Sasha masked her rural accent with overly polite speech, drawing criticism from Ymir for denying her identity. Despite eccentricities, she displayed sharp intuition and unconventional problem-solving, notably during a forest exercise where she spotted thieves' campfire smoke to locate kidnapped Krista. She then herded the thieves onto a narrow path for her comrades' ambush.
At the Battle of Trost District, stationed atop Wall Rose for cannon duty, Sasha stole officers' meat to share with comrades, boosting morale with optimistic farming predictions. She saved Samuel Linke-Jackson from falling off the wall during chaos after the Colossal Titan's breach. Stranded without vertical maneuvering gas, she joined Mikasa Ackerman's charge to retake Survey Corps headquarters, where Mikasa intervened after Sasha failed to kill a Titan due to an insufficient neck cut.
Sasha joined the Survey Corps despite breaking down during Commander Erwin Smith's mortality speech. During the 57th Expedition, she served relay duty in the right flank's Line 2, File 3. Her squad survived an encounter with an abnormal Titan hiding behind a building. Stationed at the Titan Forest perimeter during the Female Titan incident, she recognized the Titan's cry as a cornered animal's call for help and warned Mikasa.
Near her village during the Clash of the Titans arc, Sasha abandoned her post to investigate approaching Titan footsteps. Discovering a 3-meter Titan eating a villager while the victim's child watched paralyzed, she rescued the child. After her horse bolted, she armed herself with her family's bow and arrows, blinding the pursuing Titan with an eye shot to escape across a drawbridge. This marked her evolution from fear to protector.
Later, Sasha served as a sharpshooter beyond Paradis Island. By 854, she had matured physically, sporting shorter hair and wielding rifles alongside maneuvering gear. She acknowledged to Jean Kirstein that killing enemy soldiers grew easier over time, reflecting hardened professionalism, but remained incapable of shooting civilians or children. This hesitation proved fatal in Liberio: covering comrades' retreat from an airship, she held Gabi Braun in her sights but couldn't fire. Gabi seized a firearm and shot Sasha through the chest.
Her legacy endured through Marleyan chef Niccolo, who credited her with transforming his wartime perspective. He recalled her enjoying his cooking more than anyone and defined his purpose as one who "brings people happiness through his food." Her death became pivotal in escalating the conflict.
