OVA
Description
Chocola is one of the main characters of the anime and is a catgirl, a humanoid cat, who lives with her master. She is identified as a mixed-breed cat and stands 152 cm tall. Chocola is the twin sister of Vanilla, and together they are the youngest catgirls in the Minaduki household, with an age equivalent to a nine-month-old human.
Her background explains her deep devotion to her master. Chocola and Vanilla were found abandoned as young kittens on the roadside by Kashou and his sister Shigure. They were taken in, but initially refused to eat due to fear of their new surroundings. This, combined with cold weather, caused them to become seriously ill. During this time, Kashou stayed by their side to comfort them throughout the night, and he took them to the hospital the next morning. Chocola developed her strong feelings of love and loyalty for Kashou because of his kindness and care during this vulnerable period.
Personality-wise, Chocola is famously cheerful, energetic, and straightforward. She is described as having a dog-like personality due to her open and affectionate nature, contrasting with her twin sister's more reserved demeanor. Kashou himself often describes her as happy-go-lucky. She rarely stays upset for long and typically bounces back to her usual joyful self quickly. Chocola has a childlike and curious outlook on the world, which fits her young age. This leads to her main flaw: she is not good at thinking through complex things and tends to leap into action before fully considering the consequences. Despite her clumsiness and occasional mistakes, her hardworking and earnest attitude makes her very endearing to everyone around her.
Chocola's primary motivation is her love for her master, Kashou. When he moves away from his family's home to open his own patisserie named La Soleil, she cannot bear the separation. She devises a plan to stow away inside a cardboard box so she can follow him to his new shop. After she and Vanilla are discovered, their persistent requests convince Kashou to let them stay, becoming his first employees and live-in companions. In her role at La Soleil, Chocola works as a waitress and helps with shop duties. Her lively and friendly personality makes her the shop's de facto mascot, and customers are drawn to her cheerful energy.
Her most significant relationship is with Kashou, whom she exclusively calls master. She is very physically affectionate with him and is highly loyal. She also shares an extremely close and symbiotic relationship with her twin sister, Vanilla. Though very different in personality, they are rarely apart and support each other constantly. Chocola also has a positive relationship with Shigure, Kashou's younger sister, who helps care for the catgirls.
Throughout the story, Chocola shows a clear arc of personal growth. A major milestone for a catgirl is acquiring a bell, which serves as a license to go outside alone. This involves passing a difficult test of independence and responsibility. While Chocola struggles with the academic and complex parts of her training and barely manages to pass, she succeeds through her determination and hard work, demonstrating her commitment to becoming a more capable and reliable catgirl for her master. She also develops from a frightened stray into a confident and hardworking member of the La Soleil team.
In terms of notable abilities and traits, Chocola possesses immense energy and a go-getter attitude, which makes her a hard worker despite being prone to mistakes. She has a very strong sense of smell and can recognize people by their scent. Like many catgirls, she exhibits cat-like instincts, such as being easily distracted by toys and having a flehmen response. In her speech, she often refers to herself in the third person, using her own name instead of "I".
