Description
Professor Hojo, born in 1945, rose to lead Shinra's Research and Development division after Professor Gast's resignation. His career began as Gast's assistant, jointly pioneering mako energy studies at Shinra Manor near Nibelheim. Their collaboration resulted in the 1977 discovery of extraterrestrial remains at the North Crater, misidentified as a Cetra and renamed Jenova. Hojo then co-initiated the Jenova Project alongside Gast, Lucrecia Crescent, Hollander, and Gillian Hewley.
He directed Jenova Project S against Hollander's Project G. Hojo married Lucrecia Crescent but used her as a test subject, injecting Jenova cells into their unborn child to create Sephiroth, born between 1977 and 1982. He concealed his paternity; Sephiroth later called him "a walking mass of complexes." After Gast's 1980 departure, Hojo took over Shinra's research division, escalating his feud with Hollander. After Sephiroth destroyed Nibelheim in October 0002, Hojo managed cleanup operations. Discovering survivors Zack Fair and Cloud Strife, he devised Reunion Theory experiments, ordering their capture for Sephiroth-cell injections and mako infusion.
