Description
Eijiro Kirishima, adopting the hero name Red Riot, transformed his appearance upon entering U.A. High School, replacing his middle school black shoulder-length hair with a spiky red style. This change symbolized his commitment to courage and chivalry, ideals championed by his idol, the retro hero Crimson Riot. A small scar above his right eye remains from an accidental self-injury when his Hardening Quirk first manifested at age three.

During middle school at Mustafa Private alongside Mina Ashido, Kirishima witnessed bullies targeting an underclassman. Later, he failed to act when Ashido intervened against a threatening figure, paralyzed by fear. This perceived cowardice led him to abandon his U.A. dream. Rediscovering an interview where Crimson Riot admitted his own fears while stressing heroic resolve reignited Kirishima's determination. He apologized to those he felt he failed, recommitted to his goals, and intensified training, ultimately placing second in the U.A. entrance exam through combat prowess against robots and rescue efforts.

Kirishima lives by a personal code of "manliness," defined as bravery and living without regret. Openly emotional, he is easily moved to tears by displays of courage or integrity. His outgoing and encouraging nature fosters strong friendships, marked by fierce loyalty, particularly to Katsuki Bakugo, whom he supported during the U.S.J. incident and Bakugo's kidnapping rescue mission. Despite his confidence, he occasionally wrestles with insecurities about his Quirk's perceived lack of flashiness, overcoming these doubts through sheer willpower in battle. His middle school experiences fuel his unwavering desire to protect others.

His Quirk, Hardening, allows him to solidify and sharpen his body parts into a rock-like state, granting extreme durability against physical impacts, bullets, heat, and shock waves. Its effectiveness depends on his mental focus and resolve; prolonged use or excessive damage depletes his stamina and dissipates the ability. During the Shie Hassaikai raid, he achieved "Red Riot: Unbreakable," pushing his Quirk to its absolute limit for near-impenetrable defense and enhanced strength for roughly 40 seconds, leaving him vulnerable afterward. His hero costume prioritizes exposed skin to avoid fabric shredding during activation, though he later added sleeves to prevent accidental injury to civilians during rescues.

Key developments include his U.A. Sports Festival performance, fighting Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu to a draw and forcing Bakugo on the defensive. His internship under Fat Gum honed his combat skills, culminating in his critical defense against Kendo Rappa enabling Fat Gum's victory, earning recognition from heroes and villains alike. Post-graduation, he rose to become the No. 12 ranked Pro Hero. His legacy extended beyond his career; technology named "Red Riot" was incorporated into All Might’s "Armored All Might" suit, designed for catastrophic defense during the final war against All For One.
