Description
Saki Kawasaki attends Sobu High School, starting in class 2-F. She has long, pale blue hair reaching her waist, short choppy bangs, and a distinctive beauty spot under her right eye; her eye color shifts inconsistently between seasons, appearing emerald green in Season 1 and pigeon blue in Season 2. She frequently modifies her school uniform, leaving her shirt unbuttoned and untucked, sometimes tying a grey cardigan around her waist. Handmade scrunchies adorn her hair and wrists.

Her background involves a close-knit family facing financial strain. Though living near Hachiman Hikigaya, district separation placed her in a different middle school, where she was known as serious and kind, often cooking dinner for her siblings. By her second high school year, her demeanor turned aloof. She has younger siblings: Taishi Kawasaki, Keika Kawasaki, and two unnamed others. Deeply protective, she takes part-time jobs to fund summer school tuition and avoid burdening her parents with college costs. This led to working night shifts at Angel Ladder café, where she lied about her age to get hired. Concerned about her late returns, her brother Taishi sought the Service Club's help.

Saki presents a cold, distant exterior, perceived as delinquent due to tardiness, her modified uniform, and curt speech. She avoids small talk and social interactions, with classmates like Saika noting her rare friendliness. Underneath lies social clumsiness and difficulty expressing herself, resulting in bluntness or aggression. Yet, she shows fierce family loyalty, texting siblings during class and prioritizing their well-being. Her skills encompass cooking, sewing – evidenced by costume design for school festivals – and karate. She is allergic to cats and dislikes scary situations.

Her development starts with the Service Club intervening about her job. Hachiman deduces her motivations and suggests a scholarship, which she secures, enabling her to reduce night shifts and spend more time with siblings. Subsequently, her social relationships improve: Hina Ebina befriends her, dubbing her "Sakisaki," and recruits her for costume projects. Initially hostile toward Yumiko Miura due to clashing personalities, they later acknowledge each other's strengths. Saki also softens toward the Service Club, requesting their help to teach Keika chocolate-making for Valentine's Day.

Interactions with Hachiman reveal gradual trust. After he assists her family, she shares personal details and displays subtle jealousy when other girls engage him. Frightened during a haunted house field trip, she clings to his blazer. Hachiman notes her attractiveness, and she blushes when he accidentally uses her familial nickname "Saa-chan." Light novel-excluded scenes involve cram school classmates and Hachiman prompting her costume-design involvement.

By her third year, she plans to attend a public liberal arts college. Her relationship with Keika features during school events, where she dresses her sister warmly and photographs her performances. She maintains part-time jobs during leisure hours but prioritizes family time, indicating resolved earlier tensions.
