Description
Based on the Fleet of Fog's Ise-class battleship design, Hyuuga served as flagship of the First Oriental Fleet until sunk by I-401. This defeat caused her desertion from the Fog, after which her mental model joined the human faction Blue Steel under Gunzou Chihaya's command. She operated from an Iwo Jima underground base as port manager and supplier.
Her mental model presents as a woman in her early twenties with mid-back-length brown hair curling inward at the ends and amber eyes. She typically wears a dark sweater, lab coat, dark stockings, and occasionally a dark-gray mini-skirt, complemented by a monocle over her right eye. A signature feature is her multi-functional robotic arm apparatus, which transforms into a floating platform, protective shell, or pocket-sized device.
Hyuuga displays intense technological obsession, constantly pursuing upgrades, robots, and cybernetics. She directs fervent, physically expressive admiration toward I-401's mental model Iona, whom she calls "goddess of war," often making unwanted advances that annoy Iona despite their functional alliance. She also investigates human affairs, collaborating with Takao to probe connections between Fog flagship Yamato and Gunzou's past while concealing their findings.
At Iwo Jima, Hyuuga managed base operations and defenses using nanomaterials salvaged from her original hull. She expanded the facility via mining robots that extracted underground materials for fortifications and a robot army. During a human military assault, she deployed these robots alongside Shizuka Hazumi for defense and later transported Shizuka to I-401. She frequently acted as Iona's co-processor in combat, managing advanced systems like the Super-Graviton Cannon—salvaged from her own armament and installed on I-401 post-defeat.
Her combat capabilities included resilient Wave-Force Armor, enduring multiple corrosive warheads and a direct hit from Kongou's Super-Graviton Cannon. She confronted Fog battleship Hiei using only a salvaged turret and her robotic shell, resulting in mutual mental model destruction while their Union cores survived. Yukikaze recovered her core; though she attempted to rescue Gunzou during Kongou's attack, Yamato overruled her. Yamato later assigned her a new hull as flagship of the Second Oriental Fleet, replacing Kongou.
In the Cadenza continuity, Hyuuga consumed half of Iwo Jima's nanomaterials to restore Takao's vessel, then joined Takao to combat the Fog's "student council" fleet against Musashi. She hacked Fog systems to protect Blue Steel assets. Interpersonally, she rivaled Takao for Iona's attention and viewed Gunzou as an obstacle to her bond with Iona, despite respecting his command.
