Description
Neko Zombie, also referred to as Patchwork Cat, is a resident of Gregory House, the surreal hotel at the center of the Gregory Horror Show universe. According to what Gregory himself states, Neko Zombie was originally a beautiful cat with the finest black fur, who lived as the pet of a nobleman that once stayed at the hotel. At some point before the events of the series, this cat was attacked and transformed, its eyes, lips, and ears stitched shut, leaving it in a zombie-like state. The character appears in the third series, The Last Train, as a supporting presence.

In terms of personality and motivations, Neko Zombie is defined by a constant, plaintive hunger. It is often heard wailing about being hungry, and its primary drive appears to be a desperate need for food. The character is imprisoned in a jail cell within the hotel, and its frustration and misery are expressed through a combination of pitiful mewling and aggressive outbursts. Despite its zombified appearance, it retains a cat-like mannerism and a sense of stubborn determination, as shown when it confronts Gregory directly.

Neko Zombie's role in the story is that of a tragic victim and a persistent thorn in Gregory's side. It serves as one of the many bizarre, imprisoned guests that populate Gregory House, and its interactions with Gregory often revolve around their antagonistic relationship. Gregory is the one who locked the cat away, claiming it is dangerous, and it is heavily suggested that Gregory himself was responsible for stitching the cat's face, thereby trapping it in its current form. The two frequently argue and fight, with Neko Zombie attempting to resist Gregory's control.

In terms of key relationships, the most significant is with Gregory, the innkeeper. Gregory views Neko Zombie as a troublesome prisoner and a curiosity, while Neko Zombie resents its captivity and the cruel treatment it has received. There is no indication of close bonds with other residents, though the character's plight often highlights the overall cruelty of the hotel's environment.

Regarding development, Neko Zombie does not undergo a major change across the series, but its backstory and the ongoing tension with Gregory deepen the sense of tragedy. The character repeatedly tries to free itself or get food, but remains trapped in the same cycle of hunger and confinement. Its appearance and condition are a physical reminder of Gregory's manipulative and sadistic nature.

As for notable abilities, Neko Zombie has the appearance and movement of a cat, but its stitched mouth prevents it from speaking clearly or eating normally. It can still vocalize, hiss, and move with feline agility. Beyond that, no supernatural powers are attributed to it; its strength lies in its relentless, albeit futile, persistence. Its very existence as a patchwork zombie is a testament to the dark transformations that occur within Gregory House.
