TV-Series
Description
Salamander is a red lizard-like demon from Hell. An amateur human summoner seeking selfish gains first summoned him, but due to their inexperience, Salamander dominated the summoner's spirit instead of submitting to a contract, establishing his pattern of exploiting human weakness for control.
He typically appears in a red salamander-like form wearing only a loincloth and consistently carries a katana named "Magoroku" strapped to his waist, used in combat. This holds true for both his standard and chibi forms. Salamander possesses a special ability called "Revolution," which forces individuals to believe their own words when stating things they do not genuinely believe, turning lies into perceived truths.
Personality-wise, he openly disrespects women, notably illustrated when he spits thick, white spit on the character Sakuma. He also exhibits masochistic tendencies, deriving pleasure from pain or humiliation inflicted upon him. Within the demonic hierarchy and its thematic associations, he explicitly represents the sin of Greed.
His contractual relationships shift throughout the series. He has affiliations with the Detective Agency and connections to figures like Akutabe and Sakuma, though the exact nature and current status of his contracts, particularly with Akutabe or Sakuma, remain ambiguous. The demon Azazel frequently references him by the nickname "Manda-han" or "Manda(-han)."
His role remains consistent as a supporting demon character utilizing his Revolution ability and katana within the series' episodic narratives.
