Within GHOST, Stan holds the position of "the Good Helper," denoting a supportive operational role, and is also called "the Noob," indicating relative inexperience compared to his veteran teammates. He participates in missions aimed at defusing global hotspots.

A critical operation involving the pursuit of the Post-Human Patrick Huge leads to Stan's exposure to Huge's extreme cyberbrain capabilities. This exposure forces an involuntary and potentially compromising interaction. Motoko Kusanagi intervenes directly, performing a cyberbrain procedure on Stan that erases his memories of the encounter and likely other sensitive data concerning Post-Humans or Section 9's activities.
