Description
Chaika Trabant is a 14-year-old human sorceress recognizable by her flowing white hair, striking purple eyes, and notably thick black eyebrows. Her typical attire is a slightly frilly white dress with a black skirt and puffed sleeves, often paired with a frilled white headband and camouflage sleepwear of her own design. A distinct scar encircles her neck, hinting at a past decapitation, while a magical symbol marks the back of her neck. Her most conspicuous feature is the oversized coffin she carries, originally bearing a cross design but modified to diamond shapes in adaptations.

Her personality blends wide-eyed innocence with fierce determination. Chaika exhibits naivety and gullibility, frequently overlooking dangers due to a poor sense of direction. Despite her dislike of violence, she remains devoted to her objectives. She speaks the common language in disjointed, grammatically incorrect sentences, though fluent in Laake, the Gaz Empire's native tongue, peppered with verbal tics like "mwee" and phrases such as "Shocking truth!" and "Grateful!". Her speech patterns gradually improve over time. Chaika demonstrates deep compassion, aiding allies and enemies alike, and forms strong bonds with her companions, particularly developing romantic feelings for Toru Acura.

Chaika's background reveals she is one of many orphaned girls abducted and brainwashed into believing she is Arthur Gaz's daughter. Designated "#357," her implanted mission is to gather the emperor's scattered remains for resurrection. She initially believes herself Gaz's true heir, aiming to provide him a proper burial. After becoming lost in the mountains, she encounters Toru Acura. Surviving an attack by a unicorn-like Fayla, she hires Toru and his sister Akari as bodyguards for her quest.

Her character evolves significantly. Initially reliant on others for survival and navigation, exposure to other Chaikas—like the vengeful Red Chaika (Bohdan) and disillusioned Blue Chaika (Layla)—challenges her identity. Learning all Chaikas are fabricated orphans triggers a profound crisis, yet she persists in her mission. During the final confrontation with the resurrected Arthur Gaz, she sacrifices her implanted memories to power the ancient weapon Niva Lada, destroying Gaz and preventing his return. This act erases her false memories, though she later regains normal speech functions and builds a new life with Toru.

As a wizard, Chaika specializes in high-precision spells channeled through her Gundo sniper rifle, stored disassembled in her coffin. Her spells include The Ripper, creating magical slashes that bisect targets; The Locator, functioning as magic sonar to detect objects; The Commander, which nullifies magic applied to a target; The Floater, allowing floating in air or water; and The Annihilator/The Meraviglios, high-destructive beam attacks. She requires incantations and setup time for spells, creating vulnerability mid-cast. Her engineering skills enable her to repair mechanical vehicles like the "Svetlana" carriage.

Her name derives from automotive references: "Chaika" from the Russian GAZ Chaika luxury car, and "Trabant" from the East German vehicle, meaning "escort" or "guide" in Slavic languages. The scar around her neck and her coffin's design variations are noted trivia points.
