Hikari travels alongside Satoshi and Takeshi during the events in Crown City depicted in Pokémon Zoroark: Master of Illusions. She participates in rescuing Zorua after its escape from Grings Kodai, encountering the young Pokémon in a forest outside the city. Hikari then accompanies Zorua into Crown City to help it reunite with its parent, Zoroark, whom Zorua calls "Meema".

Within the city, Hikari witnesses the chaos unleashed by Zoroark's illusions of the legendary beasts and the subsequent lockdown initiated by Kodai. Alongside Satoshi, Takeshi, and Zorua, she meets the journalist Karl, who guides them through a hidden passage in a windmill to bypass the city seals. Kodai later captures and imprisons Hikari, Satoshi, Takeshi, and Karl, though they are freed by Rowena, revealed as an undercover journalist.

Hikari assists the group in protecting the injured time-traveling Pokémon Celebi after Kodai attacks it. She flees with the others, including Zorua and Celebi, meeting Karl's grandfather Joe and his friend Tammy. During the climax at the stadium, Hikari and Takeshi battle Kodai's bodyguard, Goone, and his Pokémon, providing crucial support while Satoshi carries Celebi toward the Time Ripple. Her Pokémon, Piplup, actively participates throughout these events, befriending Celebi alongside Zorua and Pikachu and engaging in the efforts to stop Kodai.
