Description
Raiden, born Isamu Segata, serves in Japan's Special Security Force. A highly trained detective and counter-terrorism operative, he possesses a strong sense of justice and deep loyalty to his team. During a pursuit of the communist terrorist group Red May, he suffers critical injuries when a getaway van reverses into his motorcycle. The collision inflicts gunshot wounds to his left arm and multiple spinal fractures, leaving him paralyzed. Abandoned at the scene by his partner to continue the chase, he endures severe pain until recovered by Dr. Ichihara, a Ministry of Defense cyberneticist.

Raiden voluntarily undergoes extensive cybernetic reconstruction at Ichihara's research institute. This process transforms him into a formidable soldier clad in multi-function ceramic body armor capable of withstanding small arms fire and rocket impacts. His systems include life-support batteries beneath his chestplate and integrated weaponry: a high-recoil Magnum pistol requiring cyborg strength and a built-in hand laser. A key defensive feature is an anti-psychic membrane coating his armor, designed to disrupt psychic abilities. Post-enhancement, he demonstrates significantly amplified strength, combat proficiency, and resilience—effortlessly resisting bullets and psychic assaults.

He returns to active duty despite his superior's objections regarding the experimental nature of his enhancements. His primary focus shifts to confronting the Hunters, a trio of psychics manipulated by a government conspiracy. He engages in direct combat with Lucifer, the most powerful Hunter, whose potent telekinetic and telepathic abilities pose a severe threat. After sustaining catastrophic damage during their final confrontation, he sacrifices himself by restraining Lucifer and compelling his partner to shoot him with a specialized Magnum round. The resulting explosion, amplified by his armor's anti-psychic properties, tears through Lucifer's body, killing her while ending his own life.

In the manga adaptation, his narrative diverges: he avoids severe injury during the mission, while his partner suffers critical damage and becomes the cyborg. He supports her through this transformation and later plays a pivotal role in exposing the conspiracy, ultimately surviving the conflict.
