Description
Hanabi Natsubayashi, nicknamed "Tama," is Fumiya Tomozaki's blunt and brusquely honest classmate, initially unsociable. She sports wavy, short biscuit-colored hair, brown mocha eyes, a childish face, and a short stature. Her unfiltered honesty frequently sparks social friction, causing others to dislike or target her for harassment.

This isolation deepens when Tama publicly condemns Erika Konno's bullying, making her Erika's new target. Harassment includes discovering her treasured keychain—a gift from best friend Minami Nanami (Mimimi)—vandalized in her locker. Struggling internally, Tama confides in Tomozaki her desire to avoid lashing out like she used to.

Tomozaki, Mizusawa, and others step in to help Tama build social skills. She practices cheerful speech and participates in comedy routines devised by Tomozaki, though she initially lacks confidence to perform them for the class. Fuuka Kikuchi provides a neutral practice space, praising Tama's resilience during the bullying and the support from her friends.

A pivotal moment arises after Aoi Hinami exposes Erika's bullying publicly, leading classmates to retaliate against Erika. Tama intervenes forcefully, shouting at the class to stop, arguing that replicating harm is wrong. She defuses the tension with wordplay ("Tama-rrow is another day"), halting the hostility. This act earns her respect, prompting apologies from former bullies like Mao and marking significant social progress.

Tama shares a deep bond with Mimimi, who persisted in befriending her despite her initial withdrawal. Mimimi offers steadfast support, and Tama reciprocates by comforting Mimimi after her student council election loss to Hinami, calling Mimimi her "hero." Tama also trusts Tomozaki and Mizusawa, acknowledging their help. She expresses concern to Hinami about her manipulative tactics during the bullying resolution, stating she doesn't want to see her "doing that."

Following the incident, Tama gains popularity. She learns to leverage her unique charm to appear approachable and takes genuine interest in others. She reconciles with former adversaries like Shuuji Nakamura, joining group celebrations. The repaired keychain, featuring decorative X-stitches designed by Tomozaki and sewn by Yuzu Izumi, symbolizes class unity and Tama's integration.

Her name "Hanabi" means "fireworks," and her nickname "Tama" originates from Japanese fireworks festival cheers ("tamaya").
