Description
Megatron commands the Decepticons as their principal leader, descending from a lineage of military hardware robots engineered by the Quintessons on Cybertron. After initial Decepticon defeats against Autobot transformation technology, he rose during Cybertron’s Golden Age and engineered transformation capabilities for his forces. His early maneuvers included a covert strike on an outer Cybertronian city, assassinating the ruling Autobot leader in secrecy. Younger robots like Orion Pax once revered Megatron for his flight prowess. Yet Megatron later deceived Pax into unlocking energon warehouses, culminating in Pax’s near-fatal wounding during their clash. The ancient Autobot Alpha Trion rebuilt Pax into Optimus Prime, igniting their perpetual rivalry and reigniting the civil war.
Originating as an oppressed miner designated D-16, he ascended as a gladiatorial champion in Kaon’s deathmatches. Renouncing his former identity, he adopted the name Megatronus—later shortened to Megatron—in homage to a legendary Prime. He first rallied against Cybertron’s corrupt caste system, declaring freedom a universal right, but his ideology twisted toward tyranny with accumulating power. Founding the Decepticon movement, he merged intellectual debates and strategic violence to cement control. His former disciple Orion Pax, initially galvanized by Megatron’s rhetoric, opposed him as Optimus Prime upon witnessing his tyrannical descent.
In *Scramble City: Mobilization*, Megatron detects magnetic anomalies from a hidden Autobot facility. He commands Soundwave to deploy spies, revealing Metroplex—an Autobot city-former—under construction. To sabotage it, he orders sequential assaults: first via Constructicons (combining as Devastator), then Stunticons (as Menasor), and finally Combaticons (as Bruticus). During combat, he exploits "Scramble Power," enabling combiners to swap limbs mid-battle. He directs Stunticon Wildrider to forcibly graft onto Superion as a leg, crippling the Autobot combiner. Autobots retaliate with their combiners and activate Metroplex, which transforms and routs the Decepticons. Megatron’s strategy culminates in Trypticon’s emergence as the Decepticon city, though this cliffhanger persists unresolved.
Beyond *Scramble City*, his chronicle features relentless confrontations with Optimus Prime across continuities. He repeatedly perishes by Prime’s hand, only to resurrect—often as Galvatron—through alliances with entities like Unicron. This cycle occurs across timelines, though Galvatron sometimes exists independently. His alternate modes include a Walther P38 pistol, tanks, jets, and particle-beam cannons, varying by continuity. In later wars, he wields Dark Energon (Unicron’s essence) to corrupt Cybertron’s core, seeking planetary domination and pursuing Optimus Prime galaxy-wide. His methods span genocide against neutrals, political subterfuge, and psychological torment, embodying his devotion to conquest through absolute ruthlessness.
