Description
In Q Transformers: Saranaru Ninkimono e no Michi, Optimus Prime is one of the lead characters of the Autobot episodes, appearing alongside Bumblebee and Lockdown in short, conversation-driven installments. This version of Optimus is the Autobot leader in title, but the series strips away the epic war narrative and places him in a low-stakes comedy setting centered on talking about the Transformers franchise itself. He is presented in the small, cute, super-deformed style of the Q Transformers line, and his default appearance is based on his live-action movie design from the Age of Extinction era, although he sometimes switches without explanation to designs inspired by his Generation 1 and Alternity versions.

The defining trait of this Optimus is self-awareness. He knows he is a toy character and openly discusses products, reboots, and marketing ideas. In the second season, his main motivation is tied directly to the show's premise: he and his companions talk about the Transformers series and brainstorm ways to make the brand more popular, proposing new concepts and reacting to the strange suggestions of others. He acts as the de facto host and instigator of these discussions, moving the topic forward and giving some structure to the fast-paced banter.

His personality is a comedic inversion of the noble hero archetype. He speaks quickly, offers plans with confidence, and frequently responds to absurd proposals with flat, deadpan acceptance. His signature phrase, in which he announces that he has a good idea, became closely associated with him and was even referenced in merchandise. He shows exasperation when conversations spiral out of control, makes wry comments about whatever topic is raised, and occasionally breaks into surreal reactions. Beneath the comedy, the show still presents him as caring: he comments fondly that Bumblebee is always kind, and the friendship with Bumblebee is the most prominent relationship in his scenes. Bumblebee addresses him as commander, and the two trade rapid-fire exchanges, with Optimus generally playing the more composed straight man.

His role in the story is that of a commentator and entertainer rather than a warrior. In this season, he appears mainly in the Autobot episodes, while the Decepticons receive their own separate episodes led by Megatron. He welcomes a number of guest characters from across Transformers history into the conversations, and his material shifts from practical suggestions to increasingly surreal, self-referential comedy. In the final episode, he directly addresses the young Autobot audience and promises to meet them again at the movie theater, underscoring how far the character has moved into meta humor.

His notable abilities in this series are conversational rather than combative. Optimus demonstrates quick thinking, improvisational skill, and a talent for turning any subject into material for discussion, especially in the unscripted portions of the show where the comedy relies on the performers staying in character. Physically, he retains the ability to transform between robot mode and his vehicle mode, presented here in the miniature toy style of the line, and the series treats his shifting body designs as a running joke rather than a plot point.
