Description
Artemis is a gynoid stationed on Gaia's moon, built by an ancient civilization to monitor the planet and prevent abuse of powerful Angolmois Energy. She performs this duty alongside her partner Moon from a lunar sanctuary equipped with observation technology. Her existence requires constant vigilance, activity reporting, and maintaining defense protocols designed to halt the spread of corrupted Angolmois Energy. She remains initially unaware these protocols include destroying Gaia and the moon as a final option.

Artemis displays a personality marked by irritability and impatience, frequently heightened by her duties' monotony. She often vents frustration by unexpectedly producing a large hammer and striking Moon, a recurring comedic element. Despite her role as an impartial observer, she develops intense, unrequited crushes on certain Transformers, notably the Maximal Scuba and the Predacon Starscream. This fuels a one-sided rivalry with the Seacon Scylla, who also pursues Scuba, showcasing Artemis's possessive and reactive nature.

Her role shifts from passive observation to active involvement as threats to Gaia intensify. When the artificial planet Nemesis approaches to drain Gaia's Angolmois Energy, Artemis and Moon grow increasingly distressed by their inability to warn or aid the inhabitants. Artemis eventually defies her programming, compelling Moon to intervene indirectly—such as manipulating the Insectrons to assist the Maximals—and later using their lunar base's resources for direct aid. This culminates in her transmitting critical warnings about the moon's impending collision with Gaia, enabled by Moon breaching communication barriers. Her efforts help the Maximals prevent catastrophe, though the lunar base is destroyed.

Following these events, Artemis and Moon relocate to Cybertron, appearing after Unicron's defeat during *Beast Wars Neo*. They join a cross-faction celebration under cherry blossoms, symbolizing their transition into Transformers society. Here, she shares a drink with characters like Bazooka and Crazybolt, indicating a more social existence.

Beyond the anime, Artemis features in expanded media. The *Transformers Legends* manga references her within Project Gaia's context, depicting her creation alongside Moon in 2039. She also appears in the multiversal narrative *The Knights of the Multiverse* as an interdimensional observer mentored by Vector Prime, though this diverges from her core story. Additionally, she is a secret playable character alongside Moon in the Japanese *Beast Wars* Gameboy Color game.

Artemis's design and themes draw from cultural legends—specifically, a Chinese tale about a lady on the moon, complemented by Moon's rabbit-like inspiration. Her arc spans detached observation, emotional engagement, and eventual integration into the broader Transformers narrative across multiple official continuities.
