Description
Zhuge Liang assumes the role of Liu Bei's chief strategist following his recruitment after Cao Cao's seizure of Jingzhou Castle. His strategic brilliance proves pivotal in forging the alliance between Liu Bei and Sun Quan to resist Cao Cao's invasion, culminating in their coordinated defense at the Battle of Chibi. This joint effort successfully repels Cao Cao's forces, although subsequent tensions emerge between Liu Bei and Sun Quan regarding control of Jingzhou Castle.

Throughout the Northern Campaigns, Zhuge Liang engages in repeated conflicts against Wei commanders. His initial offensives encounter setbacks facing Cao Zhen, who anticipates Zhuge Liang's maneuvers, notably fortifying Chencang against Shu advances. These encounters underscore Zhuge Liang's persistent drive to overcome Wei's logistical and defensive strengths despite Shu's numerical disadvantage.

His later campaigns shift focus to confronting Sima Yi, who employs a cautious strategy to counter Zhuge Liang's tactics. Their struggle descends into a prolonged stalemate, defined by intricate strategic maneuvering rather than conclusive engagements. Zhuge Liang redirects efforts towards consolidating supply lines and sustaining pressure on Wei positions, highlighting the operational limitations constraining Shu forces.

Across these engagements, Zhuge Liang's strategies consistently emphasize utilizing defensive terrain and capitalizing on enemy errors, mirroring historical precedents like the Battle of Chibi. His leadership extends beyond military command to encompass administrative authority within Shu, where he wields control over both governance and military operations.
