Description
Mirei Minami is a 14-year-old Libra student (birthday: October 1) at Paprika Private Academy, serving as head disciplinarian. Outside PriPara, she has long light brown hair usually styled in a high ponytail with straight bangs and thin forelocks, auburn brown eyes, and wears glasses. Entering PriPara transforms her appearance: her eyes become bright blue without glasses, and her hair turns lemon yellow with wavy textures, styled into two conical buns decorated with bows with some hair left loose.

Analytical and strict about rules, she often uses catchphrases like "Keisandoori" (just as calculated) and "Keisangai" (miscalculated). As an idol, she adopts an easy-going, perky demeanor, frequently ending sentences with "~pri" and using the signature phrase "Pop, Step, Get You!" She exhibits competitiveness and occasional bossiness when situations deviate from plans. Her mother, an attorney, aspires for her to become an "Idol Attorney," while her father, a prosecutor, hopes she becomes an "Idol Prosecutor."

Mirei co-founds the idol unit SoLaMi♡SMILE with Laala Manaka and Sophy Hojo, managed by Kuma. She initially convinces Laala to become an idol and maintains a rivalry with Sion Todo of DressingPafé, notably issuing her a warning ticket for breaking school rules. Later, during Idol Time PriPara, she transfers to Aquaprium and develops a rivalry with Mimiko Jigoku. She admires the idol Cosmo and has a fondness for melon bread.

Her idol journey starts in the Student Class, promoting to Debut Class in Episode 6. She begins participating in PriPara during her sixth-grade year. Key milestones include her first solo performance in Episode 41, her debut character song "Pe~rfect with Pri" in Episode 84, and becoming the first pop idol to perform a Gold Fairy. She is also the first pop idol to perform at Paparajuku's PriPara. Her preferred fashion brand is Candy Alamode, featuring coords like the Magical Clown Coord, Candy Alamode Cyalume Coord, and Dream Candy Alamode Cyalume Coord, which evolve throughout the series.

Her given name derives from the solfège scale's third note "mi." Poppies are her favorite flowers. She wins the National Exemplary Head Disciplinarian Contest three times. Her name is frequently misspelled as "Mireille." Early drafts depicted her normal appearance with loose chest-length hair. She shares similarities with Ann Fukuhara from Pretty Rhythm, including voice actress, pop idol typing, serious personality, theme color blue, and connections to sweets-themed fashion. Her surname "Minami" (meaning "south") is shared by characters like Kotori Minami (Love Live!) and Minami/Cure Mermaid (Go! Princess Pretty Cure), with whom she shares traits such as leadership roles and blue-themed aesthetics in transformed states.
