Description
Fuwari Midorikaze is a character who first appears in the second season of the PriPara anime and also features in the film Gekijōban PriPara: Mi~nna de Kagayake! Kirarin Star Live. She is a 14-year-old, second-year middle school student who stands 157 centimeters tall and has a birthday on August 11, which corresponds with Japan's Mountain Day and complements her nature-oriented theme. Her name reflects her personality: Midorikaze combines the words for green and wind, while Fuwari conveys a sense of lightness and gentleness. She has bright blonde hair that is cut just above her shoulders, styled with a distinct braid across the top of her head resembling a headband, and large fuchsia eyes that look the same whether she is inside the world of PriPara or out in the real world.

Fuwari originally comes from the Palps region of EuroPara, a clean and sunny area implied to be similar to Switzerland. Because she was raised in a natural environment, she has a deep love for animals and possesses an implied ability to communicate with them, which is one of her most defining traits. However, her upbringing in a rural setting means she has a significant lack of knowledge about modern urban life, often leading to comical misunderstandings about common technology and social customs. Her personality is described as yurufuwa, a Japanese term that blends yurui, meaning easygoing or relaxed, and fuwafuwa, meaning light or gentle. True to this description, Fuwari is a free-spirited and friendly individual who approaches situations in her own unique way. While her unconventional methods sometimes unintentionally cause trouble for those around her, her primary goal is to befriend everyone she meets. She has a distinctive verbal tic, often saying "natchu" at the end of her sentences.

Her journey to the main setting of the story begins when she is recruited by the enigmatic figure Hibiki Shikyoin, who heard her singing in the Palps and invited her to become an idol. She enrolls as a transfer student at Paprika Private Academy and quickly befriends the main character, Laala Manaka, who becomes one of her closest friends. Fuwari's preferred fashion brand is CoCo Flower, which aligns with her natural aesthetic. According to the character Meganee, she holds the distinction of being the first natural-type idol in PriPara history, with green as her signature charm color. She is also notable for being the fourth idol to jump directly to the Debut Class immediately after her first live performance.

Fuwari's role in the story is heavily defined by her relationship with Hibiki Shikyoin. Initially viewing Hibiki as a prince figure, she accepts the role of a Princess Candidate. However, her refusal to follow Hibiki's orders to team up with other idols leads to a falling out, during which she gives up her candidacy and is moved into a small attic room. Despite this, she remains cheerful, noting that the attic is closer to the sky. A significant turning point occurs when she discovers that Hibiki is a cross-dressing girl, leading to a temporary shock that causes her to faint and briefly return to her homeland. Their relationship eventually recovers, and they reconcile to form the idol unit Tricolore along with Falulu. In the film Gekijōban PriPara: Mi~nna de Kagayake! Kirarin Star Live, Fuwari participates in ensemble idol activities with the other main characters, taking part in interstellar tours and group challenges that require the idols to work together.

Throughout her appearances, Fuwari demonstrates her strong connection to nature in various ways. She is known for sleeping on wooden floors so that her pet sheep can use her bed, she once used goats as part of her stage production for audience interaction, and she has been shown to calm fierce animals, including a lion wearing glasses. Her unwavering commitment to her natural, free-spirited approach to life, combined with her determination to maintain her friendships and her ability to forgive, defines her character development as she learns to navigate the more complicated aspects of idol life and human relationships.
