OVA
Description
Kaori Shirasaki is a central figure in her story, known initially as the most popular and beautiful girl in her class, often called an angel or a goddess by her peers. She has long black hair and brown eyes, though this physical appearance changes following a pivotal event in the narrative. At the start, she is defined by her exceptional kindness, treating everyone equally and possessing a friendly, cheerful disposition that makes her highly approachable. However, beneath this gentle exterior lies a surprisingly strong-willed and determined individual. Once Kaori sets her mind on a goal, she pursues it with a single-minded, impulsive drive that can border on recklessness. Despite her popularity, she can be quite naive, often oblivious to the romantic feelings others have for her or the hostility directed toward the person she cares about most.

Kaori’s primary motivation stems from a deep and long-standing love for her classmate, Hajime Nagumo. Her romantic interest began in middle school when she witnessed Hajime, despite being weak, bravely stand up to bullies to protect a stranger. This act of quiet courage impressed her far more than any display of raw strength, leading her to admire his strong will. She spent a year trying to find him again and, upon entering high school, actively befriended him, even delving into anime and manga to understand his hobbies. After the class is summoned to a fantasy world, Kaori is granted the job of a priest or healer. Despite being one of the strongest support mages in the group, her primary concern is protecting Hajime, who is deemed the weakest and is subjected to bullying. When Hajime falls into the depths of the Great Orcus Labyrinth and is presumed dead, Kaori is devastated. She refuses to believe he is gone, and this tragedy hardens her resolve. She trains relentlessly, pushing herself to become stronger, driven by the hope of reuniting with him and the guilt of having failed to protect him.

Kaori’s role in the story evolves significantly. For the first major arc, she is a key supporting member of the hero’s party led by her childhood friend Kouki Amanogawa. Her exceptional healing magic makes her indispensable, capable of long-range and large-area recovery, as well as diagnosing unknown ailments. When she is finally reunited with the drastically changed, cynical, and powerful Hajime, she is overjoyed. Despite his cold demeanor, she instantly recognizes the person she loves beneath the surface. In a bold move, she confesses her feelings and insists on joining his party, leaving the main hero's group behind. Upon joining Hajime, she finds herself as the weakest member of his overpowered group, struggling to keep up with their immense strength. This leads to feelings of inferiority, but her determination never wavers. A major turning point occurs when she is killed in battle by a corrupted classmate. Instead of returning to her original weak body, she chooses to have her soul transferred into the body of Noint, a powerful "apostle" or divine messenger. This resurrection transforms her, granting her a body with silver hair, enhanced physical abilities on par with Hajime’s party, and even greater magical prowess, allowing her to cast ancient regeneration magic without incantations.

Kaori's key relationships form the core of her development. Her relationship with Hajime Nagumo is the central axis of her character, evolving from a respectful admiration to a fierce, possessive, and unwavering romantic love. She accepts that he already loves Yue, the vampire who saved him, but vows to make him hers as well. Hajime, for his part, repeatedly saves her and comes to care deeply for her, ultimately marrying her as one of his wives by the story's end. Her relationship with Yue is a notable rivalry. The two compete openly for Hajime’s attention, often bickering, but they share a deep mutual respect and work together effectively as comrades. Her relationship with Shizuku Yaegashi, her childhood best friend, is one of profound trust and support. Shizuku is her primary confidant, especially regarding her feelings for Hajime. Kaori also has a close friendship with the rabbit-eared warrior Shea Haulia and the dragon-woman Tio Klarus, quickly forming a bond with them as fellow members of Hajime's party.

Over the course of the story, Kaori undergoes significant character development. She starts as a naive, universally adored healer who is largely dependent on her innate talent. The trauma of losing Hajime and the subsequent journey transforms her into a more focused, resilient, and braver individual. She confronts her own weaknesses and feelings of inadequacy directly, culminating in her decision to sacrifice her original body for a more powerful one to stand beside Hajime. Her personality also reveals hidden depths that emerge more prominently in comedic side stories. While maintaining her core kindness, she displays surprisingly extreme yandere and stalker tendencies in her devotion to Hajime, such as collecting his personal belongings, knowing his daily habits, and even attempting extreme measures to be close to him. This obsessive, perverted side is a noted contrast to her pure exterior but is framed as an endearing, if extreme, expression of her honest and unwavering love.

In terms of notable abilities, Kaori originally specializes as a priest, excelling in healing, restoration, and spirit magic. She can heal allies from a distance, cure entire groups, and perform precise magical diagnoses. Her combat skills are limited to using a staff and later, after receiving a personally crafted katana from Hajime, she demonstrates proficient swordsmanship, particularly in the Iaido quick-draw style. After her resurrection into the apostle's body, her abilities skyrocket. She gains superhuman strength, speed, and durability. Her healing magic is elevated to an ancient, high-level regeneration that requires no incantation. She becomes proficient in wielding two broadswords or powerful artifacts: a demonic sword that can absorb an enemy's magic and a holy sword capable of mass resurrection, allowing her to heal entire armies while simultaneously fighting powerful foes. This transformation shifts her from a pure support role into a versatile front-line combatant and support mage. By the end of the main story, she has grown into one of the strongest characters, fully capable of standing alongside Hajime and his party in the final battles.
