Description
Leona West, also known as Reona West, is a PriPara idol and student at Paprika Private Academy, introduced as an 8th grader though some sources note 7th grade attendance. He is the younger twin sibling of Dorothy West, born to a Canadian father and Japanese mother. His appearance features short, curly light pink hair with a braid on the left side, dark pink eyes, a distinctive beauty mark under his left eye, and a characteristic sailor's hat worn on the right side of his head.
Initially shy and reserved, Leona exhibits strong dependence on his sister Dorothy, often imitating her actions and echoing her preferences with his catchphrase, "If Dorothy ○○, then I’ll ... too...". He struggles with assertiveness but gradually develops greater confidence and independence throughout the series, initiating actions without Dorothy's influence and forming individual relationships. His calming presence is noted, especially with young children, emphasized by his signature phrase, "(Tension) relax!". Leona frequently serves as a peacemaker within his idol unit, mediating conflicts between Dorothy and teammate Shion Todo.
Professionally, Leona debuts in PriPara with a cameo in Episode 12 and formally joins the idol unit Dressing Pafé alongside Dorothy and Shion Todo in Episode 14. He favors the Fortune Party fashion brand, shared with Dorothy. His idol attire evolves through multiple coordinations including the Twin Gingham Coord, Fortune Party L Cyalume Coord, Dream Fortune Party R Cyalume Coord, and Super Cyalume Reona Coord.
Key relationships define his arc. While his bond with Dorothy remains central, he increasingly interacts independently, forming a friendship with Sophy Hojo after trading Friend Tickets—an act symbolizing growing autonomy. He maintains a neutral, friendly dynamic with Shion Todo and accepts a stand-in role for Hibiki Shikyoin during a movie rehearsal. Leona's development culminates in achieving God Idol status alongside Dorothy and Shion in Episode 189, relinquished in Episode 191.
In the original Japanese version, Leona is identified as male using the gender-neutral pronoun "watashi". The Korean adaptation alters this portrayal, removing gender references and modifying visual elements like his school uniform tie. His backstory reveals inherited personality traits from his mother in Episode 20. His favorite food is strawberry parfait.
